Good afternoon all,

My (now) wife and i applied for a sponsorship in June as Common laws and got married in August.
We did mention it in the paperwork that the date was already set for that day, but since we were officially "common law" we checked that box.

The CIC officers redirect me to the website and use the mail form for any changes, but what exactly do i have to say?
I said we got married and mentioned the date, but i haven't received the "official" paperwork yet.
(I also added some pictures from the wedding just in case)

all i got back from CIC is the automated response, so should i take further action?

If you have a file number, I'd suggest that when you do get the marriage certificate back you submit it to them to indicate the change in status. If you don't have a file number I wouldn't send it because they are unlikely to be successful at matching it up with your application.

It won't hurt your application and assuming you felt your common-law application was strong enough it's not going to matter to your evaluation as sponsor.

Good luck!

I think the common-law application was strong enough, but i still want to add it.
To be honest, i have no idea how the marriage registration works here. (Never gotten married before)
The officiant sent everything in and i guess we are going to get something back?

I should look into this :D

My husband and I were married in Ontario (May) and we had to wait 8-10 weeks after getting married before being able to apply (costs extra) for the actual marriage certificate. It may be different in other provences, so I'd suggest looking through the paperwork you have from the officient at the ceremony, or calling to find out :)

Here in BC we were married on May 20, 2011 (a Friday) and received the certificate of marriage back June 13. When I ordered certified copies in February 2012, I ordered on a Monday and had them on Wednesday (I did pay the $10 fee for expedited shipping).

Thanks, i'll see what they ask for.
I have fulfilled my part by notifying them through the designated e-mail address, if they need MORE proof, i'm sure they'll request it.
