From everything I have heard and read I am really expecting to hear something soon - by end of Jan at the very latest. I haven't heard anything since the Nov 1 letter requesting the last police check (submitted Nov 18) but keeping my fingers crossed for good news soon.

Compliments of the new season, I traveled back to be with my huzby and it was so refreshing to be able to forget all about this for a while. Latest news we got n email from Pretoria late Dec saying they have not received my huzbys medical yet so we r just waiting...any good news for anyone yet???

Happy New Year. No news on this end... haven't heard a peep since the beginning of November.

Was the email you received in response to your inquiry email? What email address did it come from? Want to make sure any emails we receive don't end up in the junk/spam mail folders.

When did your husband get his medical done??? I've heard of Nairobi losing medicals and I've never received a confirmation that ours was received by Pretoria either...

Nothing new on my side either! Just before Christmas I received AOR and another letter requesting some additional info. I sent in additional docs a week ago. I had to explain why my wifies two daughters dont have her nor their fathers last name and submit birth certificates.

I have been wondering the same thing about the emails they send! I have been going through all my junk/spam in my mailbox just in case one slips through!

Christmas and New Years was great thanks! Heres to 2011 and all the good things to come for all of us!

@ Waitings Yes it was a response to my email, Jacquevw the email add they use is 're-pret-imm-information @ international.gc.ca', and the this really sux big time... My huzbys medz expire in Feb and trust me I soo dont wan go through that nomore...

I have a friend of mine who is going through Pretoria as well but applied through the conjugal class in August, her Husband was called for an interview in Pretoria end of November and no news since...

I just don't understand how they can possibly not have your husband's medical yet?? I mean, if he did it in Feb and they don't have it yet, why do they expect it to suddenly appear? So confused

I just wish I could know whether there was a problem or it's just standard slow processing... I don't care if it takes another week or two months or four months as long as I know that everything is okay. Just drives me insane not even knowing that they've received all the documents. Might just order the CAIPS notes...

The 90 days on our additional doc request are up at the end of Jan so if I don't hear anything by mid-Feb I will definitely start panicking. We're booking plane tickets next week and then the count down's really on...

Only comfort I have right now is that I know one person who applied before me and hasn't heard back yet.

I'm thinking that everything is probably just taking a lot longer because maybe they're doing staff training for whatever changes immigration is planning to announce soon. Maybe that's giving the visa officers less time to get their work done...

Hello all

My BF date is coming up this week so keeping my fingers crossed. In meanwhile wanted to share some info. A good friend's sister works for immigration so I asked about the upcoming changes that have been announced. She asked around and assures me that the changes will be made based on application date (so, it will apply to all those applying from X date onwards) not applications already in process.

No guarantees I supposed but hopefully it's true and good news for all of us still waiting.

I also was told that while visa offices are open over the holidays, background checks in particular don't really make progress during that time because of other people being on holidays. So it's normal to have a delay if you're in that stage of processing (which Perfect and I definitely are).

Anyway, trying to keep optimistic.

Ugh I on the other am getting a little worried! My Bf date is 31 Jan and my docs are still not delivered since 7 Jan when I sent it! The tracking sais that the International Shipment has reached the destination country on the 18th, but not delivered yet!What do I do?

Also I have been meaning to ask you guys...when I eventualy get a PPR do I need to go back to SA to submit it or do I just send it?

Hi Guys,,

Im getting worried, like really worried...Pretoria is too quiet!!! I faxed a letter to Nairobi asking about the meds, they havent gotten back to me yet. Im pretty much hanging right bout now.

By the way, what are the immigration changes taking place? Im so lost!!

Anyways, im preparing myself for the worst..meds expire 20 Feb, so unless they extend them for one reason or the other (Very rare) then Im thinking we are going to have to re-do them. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us but im just wondering whats taking them so long..sheeez!!

@Jacquvw why dont you try emailing them to find out if they recieved it..or better still call the courier company to find out if or why they havent been delivered.

Perfect - there's been an anouncement from immigration that changes will be happening in early 2011. It seems that Canada will be implementing a conditional resident visa of some kind (this is assumed based on the questionnaire that circulated a few months ago in which the questions focused on conditional residence). There was concern from a lot of people that these changes will effect applications in process and will slow down the process for everyone (and potentially add an extra phase and costs, etc). My contact at immigration says that the changes will impact new applications only.

Jeez Jacquevw - you suddenly made me realize I hadn't even checked the tracking on the last set of stuff we sent in... will definitely do that right away. I would be calling the courier company and freaking out at them if I were in your position. Call them and find out what's going on... otherwise it could sit there indefinitely.

Regarding your PPR - you can courier the passport to Pretoria and send them a pre-paid envelope to send it back. I'm actually not sure if Pretoria will do it in person or not.

I'm practically holding my breathe waiting at this point... I booked all our flights yesterday so we are locked into dates! Will be landing in Canada May 19 so this better all be sorted out by then!!!

Ok so after about 1000 phone calls and 5 emails I finally tracked down my additional docs! Made it to Hatfield Post Office and they sent out a notification for pick-up on the 26th. Turns out it was flying around in space somewhere for a week or so!We cant use a courier company where we are so I sent it as Registered Mail through Canada Post.Terrible!!!

So do any of you have an idea as to how often Pretoria picks up their mail? I emailed them to let them know that its there and that my deadline is coming up!Also I will call them tonight, Canada time, to make sure.

Any updates on your side?

Hi Jacquevw - good to hear you tracked down your mail! Don't know how long it takes Pretoria to get around to opening mail but most offices will date stamp things as they arrive so there should be evidence that it arrived on time even if it's not in the file yet. Good luck!!

No update...but my BF date is tomorrow!!! Will of course let you know if I hear anything...
