So here is a question regarding the notice you received when Pretoria notified you that your Visa is ready to be issued. Did the letter state that there was a time limit to send your Passport to them? (more than one reply would be helpful).

The reason Im asking is because our Medical expires on July 13th and if we are thinking that if they send us the notification then we would just renew the medical then and wait to send it with the passport so that we are not left with only a week or two before the medical expires

We didnt get a time limit in the passport request...but there might be a standard time limit listed in the application guide for any document request. Also when i called the call center about taking extra time to get a new passport made they were all concerned about the time limit in the email...in which i said there wasnt any..it must depend on which visa office...either way just email pretoria and ask if you feel you need extra time..then if they say its ok you are covered.

Hey guess what...my wife landed in calgary on fri...all is good.
And dont forget your COPR at the border...they didnt put hers with the passports but rather stuffed it in our box of evidence. I dont remember immigration ever mentioning you need it to land until you actually have the paper. Theyll deny entry without it.

Congrats Ilovewaiting. You are finally reunited with your wife. Take care. ;)

There was no time limit in the email that I got either. I'm sure Pretoria will let you know if you'll be needing another medicals. I hope your wife will get the visa before the medicals expires.

Thanks guys, I hope it comes out too.... Im getting a little worried now because she is due in November and it takes threee months to get medical coverage after she arrives...paying for it out of pocket will be hard...I just want her here :(

Congrats Ilovewaiting....thanks for the heads up regarding the COPR

Hi Help2012! Welcome to the Pretoria thread!!!
Since you did your medical in February 2011, it has already expired as the medical is valid for only 1 year. However, I would suggest you not to redo your medical, it is better for the embassy to request them. I also think that you will absolutely be asked to redo your medical because when they issue your visa, it will have the same expiration date as you medical.

Yep, I agree with sweetmine. They will send you a form to bring to the doctor to renew your medicals. You will also have to redo your police clearance as well as that is only good for one year. The good news is that the medicals are now being routed through London instead of Nairobi so it shouldn't take as long to finalize....goodluck!

Hocanadiana has posted info about extension of medical under certain circumstances.
Check this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob423.asp.
Some people may not have to renew their medical.

wow, thanks Guys for your feedback, really helpful.
but i also read here that police clearance doesn't expire as long as it is submitted not later than 3 months from issue dates.
by the way my medicals were done on the 05.01.2011 and my police certi dated 07.01.2012...really frustrating guys.
sweet time i will read the artical really looks interesting jsut what i need indeed.

Welcome to Pretoria thread, we are here to help each other out. Best of luck!

thanks sweertime- i read the article but i guess it wont apply to me since my medicals were actually 1st done in Jan 2011, i will wait for the ambassy to call me or send me an email requesting renewal of the medicals...how long do these medicals take now? with the new london processing?

thanks Joseph

please clarify anyone if possible, how long the police clearing is valid for? might need to renew that as well.

i really am not too sure why my file has taken so far, pretoria received the file is september 2011 , i received the acknolegment letter in December 2011 only and the they requested the additinal doc in May 2012...
