Applications processed in Pretoria

Hi Guys!
It's been about 5 weeks since our application was received in Pretoria and still no AOR... Is that normal? What exactly is an AOR? This waiting really isn't fun!

AOR is the VO acknowledgement that they have your file not all VO issue an AOR all the time

Thanks Kedeisha, but we're still waiting 10 weeks later... it seems that most people hear about interviews within 2 months. Is that everyones experience?

It's tough now, because I'm heading back to Canada next week and we still have no idea when/if my husband can follow which is stressful for both of us. Just a sense of how long it might take would help a lot!

I filed through the Pretoria VO, We send the application to Mississauga 03 June 2011 and Pretoria received it 27 July 2011 after Mississauga approved my wife as a sponsor.

just a quick question, should Pretoria request my medicals, i.e. send me a form that I need to take to the doc, or can I download the form somewhere that I need to take.
I have mailed Pretoria to ask this question in May 2011, but no response from them regarding the matter

Anyone have any advice?

You can download the form and then you have to take this form to your doctors appointment - they then mail it to Nairobi. After Nairobi looks at it, they send it to Pretoria. It took over 6 months for my husbands medicals to reach Pretoria, and they expire after 12 months.
The form should be on the website, or with your application package. Which country are you applying from? We applied in Malawi and there are only two doctors there approved by the Canadian government.

Well hello Pretoria folk!

Some good news today. Pretoria asked for my husbands passport so they can issue his visa. This is such a surprise and a relief - we were getting ready for a much longer wait. All in all, we applied 6 months ago, and hopefully he's here by early December.

I hope so too! I think it helped that there were no extra document requests - thanks to some great advice from a friend who consulted a lawyer. Some of it was:

1. Put 10,000 in your account for a day at least and print out the statement
2. Letters of support from family, friends, employers etc.
3. Photos from all stages of the relationship (we sent approximately 25)
4. Engagement/wedding cards from family and friends
5. A history of our relationship with supporting documents (holidays, people who met us at various stages)
6. Very organised checklist of all the extra documents included

Meeee!!! But my wife has just received confirmation from CPC-M and we are applying through Quebec, so we have an extra step to take before our files gets transferred to Pretoria!
Not many people from this forum at least are applying from Pretoria.

It takes a while for the medicals to be received by Pretoria han?! Yours were sent to Nairobi also? Mine were sent to Nairobi by the doctor even before I sent my package to Mississauga. Hopefully it gets to Pretoria soon! Let's hope a fast processing for us

hey Perfect, yes they do take a while, but seeing as you sent yours before they application was sent to Miss. they might get them much quicker once the file is transfered to Pretoria. I also went through Nairobi. I got a letter from Pretoria today requesting I send supporting docs, my Birth Certificate and Zimbabwean Police Clearance (thank God I had done it ) so I will be sending them tomorrow.. Hopefully there is good news following that. My husband is in Toronto thats were im headed how about you?
