Is it possible for you to get your status corrected at the taxation office? do something to get it corrected.

I don't think anyone can tell you regarding CIC's background checks but i suggest it is better to write your status as Single / Divorced etc. in the application unless you're actually married, if you write married then you'll have to insert information about your spouse in the background declaration forms and later you'll have to provide spouse docs as well !! you can check Visa-Office specific forms for more details..

Hi,

In the forms write single as this is what your current status is if you write married or anything else you will be required to give other documents which you cant and will be more problem. I am not sure if CIC checks that or not but i think if they find out and ask you just tell them that you had a girl friend in Ireland and you were looking after her financially so to claim back your tax money you registered yourself as married.

Cheers

Right... because Canada wants people who cheat on taxes...

Mrshah, it is simple. Yes, they will do background checks. To what level it is hard to say. But if you can't decide to truthfully disclose a simple thing like marital status, you will have trouble. Applications get rejected for inconsistencies. And if they find that you have misrepresented anything on your application, you will be banned from Canada, at least temporarily.

The burden is on you to document it. If you are married, you have to give certified copies of your marriage certificate. If you are divorced, as you have stated previously, you will have to provide a certified copy of your divorce papers. But if you falsely claim to be single (never married), and you have been married, they will likely find it.

Oh, if you ask for my opinion, i'll advise you to mention your original martial status and state this issue when submitting full documents by attaching a letter along with your application explaining the details..

Hi guys,

I applied for a skilled worker visa on the 1st of april. Today i received a reply via email stating that my application is being recommended for a final determination of eligibility & that i should submit a complete application to the London office.

So i have a couple of questions, should i send the same set of documents that i've sent before to CIC? Or do i need to send in the documents required in the second stage as well, proving my qualification, work experience, language skills etc.

Secondly, should i register for an IELTS exam already to save time or is it better to wait until i've received a confirmation from the London office?

AFAIK, the additional documents should be sent within 120 days after receiving a final notice of confirmation of eligibility from the London office. Thanks for your help.

"Never married," "widowed," and "divorced" are all single, that's why they force you to chose the more specific option. Which is it?

If you ARE divorced, you can show it with your divorce papers.

Hi,

See if you put divorce you will need to show the documents which you dont have, i would say just tick it never married and give it a go because you dont have any other option then just leaving it on GOD that they dont check with the Ireland tax office. And by putting anything else means more documents and more problems rest is with you.

Cheers
