Yes, just go without appointment. I was there at 8am and they open the door at 8:30. Very nice people (Detroit). Only takes 2hrs and you are ready to go.

To all,
Thank you for your prayer, I got the visa today.
Good news for those already in Canada: If you are legally living in Canada and got the PR visa, you can now change you status to PR by calling 1-888-242-2100 and setup and appointment.
Cheers,
Congrats Beauhoe ! cool finish.. :)

Hi Jits1000/ Professional 1,
My ecas is still not showing that medicals is received. My doctor told me that if he finds any problem in my report, he will call me in few weeks. I haven't got any calls from my doctor yet, so I am thinking probably the medical is ok. I was thinking to send email to Buffalo in 2 weeks to ask them if they need anything else from me.

Dear friend,
For your appointment at the consulate, you will need:
1. Passport (s)
2. Hard copy of the email and
3. Two passport photos (can be different from the one that you provided with your application and no need to write any information on the back). This applied to all member of your family. One of the photos will be on your landing document.
The treatment was friendly. They will ask you to wait for about 10 min and then give you a document saying “you are about to get your PR visa” (smile on my face), however, we need more information from you. Just fill out the form with your first, last names, your high and the color of your eye (same for all member of your family) on the same paper. You will need two copies if you have more than three children. After you return that form, they will ask you to come back in two hrs (your case is in NY so you may take less than two hours or more, I am not sure).
Two hours later, you will be served with:
A) Your passport with the visa
B) landing document
C) A five pages doc. (information) and
D) A large envelope.
You will be asked to review the information on your landing document and your visa for mistakes (in my case none).
While reviewing my information, I was asking myself: why do we have to wait for so long if getting the visa is so simple? At the end, I feel empty with a lot of gratitude to God and all the wonderful people that I get to know on this forum.
Note: Dear friends, if you are on the waiting list please do not panic, be calm, pray and enjoy other thing in your life. Your turn is just a centimeter away.
Cheers,

Pasi and others who have done their medicals in the US, I have one question. The passport size photos that we need to carry with us for the medicals, do they need to be US passport size or Canada passport size? Also, the RPRF, do we need to prepare that in USD or CAD. The letter says CAD and has USD mentioned in brackets. I don't want to wait long and making in USD is fine for me too, just need confirmation. I remember that it was specifically asked for in CAD for the application filing fee and many applications got returned who supplied checks iN USD. For me USD is easy, for certified checks in CAD, my bank sends in a request to it's Canadian branch and the turnaround is almost a week.

1. US passport size will do it.
2. If you are in the US, visit the web site and see the exact amount in USD and send it, you should be ready to go.
3. Applicants papers get return not because they paid in USD but because the money that they sent is less than what CIC is expecting from them.
Cheers,

Hi Beauhoe,

Congratulations on your visa and thank you for the inputs about your Detroit travel! I have a quick question. When Detroit sent your the PPR, it's email or letter? Did they say you can go in person or they only mentioned something about the pre-paid express mail (or something like that)? If I drive there in person, I have to arrive before 8:30AM, right? And I can get the visa in 2 hours? Thank you!!

Hey Professional- Absolutely! I am a scientist and I will not announce anything here without verification on my side. First I received the news from my DMP and I was happy but not sure so I investigated the case by calling directly Ottawa. A woman answered the phone and confirmed the information. I asked her to double check on my file and she gave me full names of all my three children with the number of people on my CSQ. From that point I believed that it was my file and the information that I am publishing here is true.
Hello again! Could you give me the phone number of Ottawa, please? Is it this number 888-242-2100? If not, please let me know. Thanks!
