Pro1 or any other senior in this forum, can you please help with my following question:
I and my wife had completed landing formalities at Vancouver on 16th May and had returned back to the US then. Subsequently we permanently migrated to Toronto on 2nd June and have had a permanent address in Toronto since then. Since, there was a CanadaPost strike for almost the whole of June, so as not to complicate matters we did not update our addresses with CIC. My PR card was received at the Vancouver address (which we gave while landing) by 18th July, but my wife's wasn't. After waiting 2 more weeks when we contacted the CIC call centre, they said that there was a problem with my wife's photograph and hence the PR card couldn't be processed. They would send a letter with next steps to the local Vancouver office. On calling back next time, they said that her case was transferred to the local Vancouver office on 22nd July 2011 and Vancouver office will send a letter by 23rd September with further instructions. That's way too long. My wife needs to travel outside Canada during Oct-Nov and needed the PR card to come bac inti Canada.
QUESTION:
1. Is it advisable to file for an address change now to our Toronto address? Or will it further complicate matters?
2. Supposing, we let it stay at Vancouver, would she need to personally visit the Vancouver office with the photographs? How long will it take after that? CIC call centre said maybe 4-5 weeks, but we don't trust their words.
3. Since, we had used Temporary Travel Documents once already when coming to Toronto, would my wife be issued another Temporary Travel document? i.e. if she does travel out of Canada in Oct-Nov as planned and wants to come back (since she will not have the PR card then). Or are there going to be complications or impossibilities?
Please advise
