Once you get the PPR, is it possible to go in person to Buffalo and get your visa stamped the same day?

Yes, Deardhir
The process takes about an hour!
Take the communication you recieved from them, check in with the security at the HSBC building, hand in your passports and required photos, wait while the papers are being produced - recieve them and walk out with a smile.
That simple!

My online status was updated today to decision made! I send the passports for visa stamping on 14th Sep and was waiting. After seeing the update, hope to get the PP this week!

We received your application for permanent residence on July 30, 2009.
We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on October 19, 2009. Please consider delays
in mail delivery before contacting us.
Your application and supporting documents were received by the New York office. They are
pending review.
We transferred your application to the New York office on October 27, 2009. The New York office
may contact you.
We transferred your application to the New York office on April 27, 2010. The New York office may
contact you.
Your application was reviewed and we started processing on May 21, 2010.
Medical results have been received.
A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this
decision.
Congrats nmat :) Very happy for you. In fact, you know what you are lucky. One of my friends has similar timelines as yours. Infact, he filed to CIO NS in Apr-May 2009, and subsequently to Buffalo in July - Aug 2009. His case got transferred to New York VO on 27th Apr 2010 (much like you)/ His status is still "Received by Visa office". Kinda scary.

Hi Professional My application was sent back from Buffalo. I had gaps in my personal history. The marked box reads like this:

Your submission does not meet the definition of an acceptable application as set out in Regulation 10 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. (see AppendixD)

Then below it says: All of your application forms and documents are being returned to you in this package. Unless you paid for processing bla blah..No record of your application ahs been retained by this office. Please return this letter and the attached appendices when you resubmit your application.

It is really vague!! Where do I resubmit my application? Buffalo? Sydney?? or is my case closed??? agh!! such a dissapointment. I also noticed that the application is stamped July 28 2010 yet it was sent back to me September 23rd. Which date counts?

Thanks in Advance

Dan
I believe that there is nothing to worry. Just re-apply again with full documents to Buffalo.

Hello Friends,
I have sent my full application to Buffalo 1 week back. Can anyone clarify me if it is possible to check my application status? In some threads, I have seen people saying that their application status is "received by VO". In which website I can check that status?

How long will it take to receive the AOR from Buffalo? After receiving the AOR from Buffalo, how many more days/months it typically take to get the PR (If everything goes well)? How does Buffalo office sends the AOR?

If possible, please let me know briefly the stages the application goes through after sending the full application to Buffalo, USA.

Thanks in advance !

You will not be able to learn status of your application for 4-7 months now. You can check the status at cic.gc.ca, choose Check Application Status on the right Navigation menu. Currently, it is taking 3-4 month for Buffalo to issue an AOR. After receiving AOR, it can take anywhere between 6-12 months to get the PR. Buffalo sends AOR by both methods and there is no sureshot reasoning of which method it will choose for you. My CIO AOR came through e-mail, but Buffalo AOR through regular US mail. The various stages are - 1. They complete an initial review of your application to verify that all required documents have been provided. Then they create a file and issue AOR. After that, when it is picked up, they start background checks. 2. Sometimes, before Background checks, sometimes during and sometimes after checks, it changes status to "In Process" and your medical request is released. 3. Sometimes the RPRF fee request also comes with PPR. 4. You complete medicals with a DMP, DMP sends results to Ottawa, where it is placed on queue for review by the medical board

PS: My application was recommeded by NS Office in June 2010, as per the previous rules.

Regards,
MS

There you go, you finally made it, your wait is over.

Congratulations, and wish you a great life in canada.

By the way, are you going to go to Buffalo in person to get the visa stamped ? or send it via mail or courier ?

Anyway, wish you the very best of luck.
Pro1, I actually need advice here. I would perhaps need to go to Buffalo in person, but there is a caveat. First, the reason for me trying to go in person - my US visa expires on 16 Nov. Though an extension is filed, there is no guarantee that it will be approved. So, by the slightest of chance if my passport gets delayed (to be returned by Buffalo) or is lost, and in the meanwhile I have to leave US, I will be stuck. Seeing the risk involved in sending the passports by mail, I am thinking of going by person. However, my wife is working on both the days (Tue and Thu) when Buffalo stamps a passport. She is a lecturer and can't miss the lecture as it is a time bound course. So, she can't accompany me to Buffalo. My 1st question - Am I taking the right decision is trying to go in person? My 2nd question - Can I take my wife's passport (and photos) with me and Authority letter to Buffalo to get visa for both of us? Problem is Seattle to Buffalo 1 way is around 7-10 hours of flight time and tickets are also coming between 400 - 1000 dollars (depending on the day). I need advise, guys...

Did your AOR and RPRF come via post or via email?

I ask since my file is also being processed in Buffalo but I am in Canada. My AOR, RPRF, and medical request were via Canada Post. I wonder how the PRR will arrive.
gte439u, it is very random. My CIO NS AOR was by e-mail, then Buffalo AOR by US Post, Medical and RPRF request by US Post, PPR by e-mail again.

Good luck Garian. I know the shackles you are trying to be rid of with this PR, just like me :) Hope things work out OK..
Thanks OrangeC, and yes ....you know it (regarding the shackles) ;) Keep me posted on your plans and next steps. I am running almost parallel to you, as I got my PPR on 30 Sep as well.
