Good news!

I recieved my PPR this morning via email.

I believe Los Angeles has started sending out request for passport stamping. So for those whose file was transferred to LA, keep on checking your email!

Godbless!!!
Congrats!!

Thank you so much Beauhoe. I am all set for the travel. In my office right now. My flight is at 5:15 PM. Will be working until 3 PM and starting from here.
Hey Pasi... Good Luck man. How was your landing experience and how's the weather there like? More importantly let me know, if your I-94 changes when you return back to the US.

Hi all,

Finally i have an update to share and not a query to post :) :)
I got my medical request yesterday - 11th August...exactly 90 days after my file was transferred to NY from Buffalo (11th May 2010). I recall my letter stated that the visa office will not be able to provide with any status updates during this time. The medical documents were dated 5th Aug 2010.

I was able to get my medicals done today - I enquired the person doing the X-ray about the time it will take for the x-ray to reach the doctor and he mentioned 4 days. So i gues is the doctor will wait till the x-ray reports show up at his office and then send the entire package to Ottawa.

Finally a progress on my case!!

Cheers!!
Anil_Toronto, great news. You did a good thing of doing the medicals immediately. It took me 16 days to do the medicals after I got my request. That's pure lost time. And don't rest till yo uknow that your DMP has mailed out the results. Typically they say 4-5 days but it takes longer for most. My DMP had said that lab results come in 4-5 days and since the doctor will be on vacation, so it will go out at most in 7-8 days. It took them 14 calendar days to post them and I followed up with them regularly. They also charged me extra for the 1 day FedEx service that I requested, but it was worth it. That ways, my results reached the next day and I could salvage some of the lost time. Just sharing my experience

Pasi, I have landed on Canada on 29th of July, 2010 through Port Erie around 10 pm. Immigration officer asked me whether I wanted to land on that day because I have both work permit visa and Immigration visa. I informed him that I wanted to land on Canada as PR. Immigration officer asked me to go to a small room. Another immigration officer took my pictures for PR card. He asked the proof of fund. I had the letter handy from my bank. It took me 20-30 mins to complete the procedure. Both immigration officers are very friendly. I also had to declare that I don't have any criminial record. I asked him whether can I get Tim Horton coffee as a new immigration. Immigration officer asked me whether I am as addicted as the rest of the Canadians. lol!!!
tamkah. Congratulations on your landing. I have a question although I am very far out in this process. Supposing we have mentioned in our PR application that we intend to live in Toronto, can we land in say Vancouver, when we get the PR? Or do we have to necessarily land in Toronto as mentioned in the application form? Also, do we have to start living in Toronto only or we can start our life in Canada anywhere irrespective of what is mentioned in the application form.

Ok, so it has been almost a month since Ottawa got my medical results and I have not heard anything from the NY office yet. I just checked with my bank and the cashiers cheque I had sent for PPR has not been en-cashed as yet. It has been over 7 weeks since I sent the cheque along with proof of medicals to the NY office.
Dunno what is taking them so long! Judging by other peoples movement based off the NY office, something does not seem right. I am gonna call Ottawa tomorrow and see if they can tell me if the results have been forwarded to NY office or not. Fingers crossed!!
Hey jattu1980, were you able to find out anything? Do keep me posted. I have everything similar to you, albeit with a 3.5-4 week lag and the fact that I am being processed at Buffalo and not New York visa office. Hope to hear from you soon. Although, every case is different, doing some calculations on timeline estimates keeps me happy. At this time, I am nervous, as my tenure in the US is only 3 months left and I need to have a decision on my PR before that.

I have almost the same time line like you. My Fedex tracking number says the medical documents reached Ottawa on 8th July. Still my status is in process and the visa office is NY.
nmat, post some more details about your case, viz. NOC, FSW category, whether you applied from US or Canada, when did you file at CIO NS, when was application package with supporting documents received at local visa office, etc.

My status finally changed to "in-process" on Aug 2010 now waiting for medical request.
spur230, where is your case being processed - Buffalo or New York? Also, when exactly was your full application received and when was your file transferred (if transferred)?

Good morning Friends, I have an update. My landing process is done. Last night I landed in Toronto. Process is pretty much simple and straight forward. I am sure lot of people here have already shared their landing experience. So I ll try and make it short.

1. Just after landing, we ll be passing through a customs counter where we have to declare that we are carrying funds more than $10000 CAD. No other checking here. No checking for the money as well. I had it as travellers cheques for $11000 and $1000 in cash.

2. Next is the immigration counter. Once we tell them we are here for landing, they ll direct us to a different counter. The officer here will ask for our COPR form and our passport. He does his work there and after 5-10 mins of typing, told me the magical words "Welcome to Canada. As of today, you are a resident of Canada". :). He also told me my PR card will be coming in

3. Next is the customs officer. This is the person who ll check for our B4 forms for the goods accompanying and goods to follow. He was impressed by the paper work I had done with the forms. He just signed and sealed all of them and did not ask to open my box.

Thats it. I was given one more welcome kit and shown my way into Toronto. My uncle was waiting outside to pick me. Now I am at his place enjoying the weekend !!!

Last but not least, A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL MY FRIENDS HERE.. I am not going to mention any names, everyone of you here has been helping me in one or the other way. My best wishes to everyone to get into Canada soon. Please feel free to post your queries. I would try my best to give you the answers. Thanks again! Have a good weekend!

Dude, it does not matter. I mentioned Calgary in my application and landed now in Toronto. And you can start your living anywhere you get a job or plan to settle. I dont think anyone would question you for that.

Landing was smooth and I have shared my experience here. Weather is quite normal. Just like a regular spring. My I94 was not removed from my passport. I will keep you posted what happens when I get back to US. I am sure they would be giving a new one.

Only few last night at the airport and the girl who was sitting behind me in the plane from whom I borrowed a pen to fill my declaration form ;)
