Besides, my present UK resident permit expires in september 2011. I am a bit confused. I need to renew if London VO does not finish my application before then. In another twist, this is my final renewal before we get our PR status in the UK but I need to pay the immigration authority £3000 (UK visa fees have just been increased). My worries now: should I renew and get our UK PR due in sept 2013 or forgo it and get that of Canada only? How far for Naija? We not dey hear encouraging news 4 political scene at all. Goodluck, PDP and others not dey try.
God bless Naija

Shalom1, that is tight!. It is quite a tough decision to make, but that is basically because of what you have to pay for the UK visa fees. I may risk sounding pessimistic, if I say that getting the Canada PR by September may be doubtful, considering the snail speed at which the VO is going..
You still have between now and July to take a decision, but I would suggest you consider working towards renewing your UK RP, and ultimately getting the PR status. The old adage..... ''a bird in hand.......
As for Naija, na sidon look, one day e go better.

Just another thought that came to my mind (more like paranoia at this stage ;D) Does anyone know if having dual nationality affects the eligibility process in any way? I ask because we (all of our family members) have dual nationality. Both my spouse and I are naturalized citizens and our children have citizenship by birth here. Both our country of birth and current country of residence allows dual citizenship. We have duly indicated all the info on the app forms. Just wondering if these have any implications on our eligibility review.

I'll appreciate the opinion of experienced members of the forum.

Thanks

I am not the voice of experience, but it shouldn't!
Immigration has become a competition for available talent pool/skill set that will positively impact on population growth and infrastructure support(taxes)
Any county's loss is another's gain, unfortunately.

I'd suggest sending a case specific query....As you can see from the ND tracker, most of the applicants have received MR in less than 2 weeks from the 2nd AOR date......No harm in sending a query..........
Thanks JasonBourne.

Can one of the admins add me to the tracker please.

I used UPS when I sent mine. Don't know if you can draw reliability conclusions from that ;) 8)

I don't think it will be a problem affecting on your review.

Like me, by birth, I am a citizen of China then immigrated to US and became US Citizen. Now, applying to Canada. I know Canada accepts dual citizenships, because most of my relatives in Canada became Canadian for years and at their citizenship interviews, they didn't have any problems too.

Hi Pj,

Any solid reason for migration from US to CA ?

Regards,
Mayank

The idea is, especially at offices like London, whether we can establish a pattern to see if they are giving certain nationalities and residents favourable processing.
Wayne.

I don’t think London will do that, its kind of "illegal", in terms of discrimination :-\

Country of origin and residence: Pakistan

Nevertheless there is strong suspicions that it goes on, hence why we are gathering data!

And besides it may not be any kind of discrimination. Security checks from London to remote countries such as Pakistan is going to take longer than security checks for UK residents, etc.
