Hi Param,

Going back to my hypothetical situation,If I exit on 01-Mar-12 after I do the landing(15-Feb-12),will there be a problem if I return back to canada on 01-Mar-14 at the canada immigration? Is there any rule that I should be in and out of the country(canada) every 6 months?

Hi,

For PR: 2 years out of every 5 years from date you land in Canada.

For Citizenship: 3 years of last 4 years from date you intend to apply for citizenship.

Param

Yes, I am thinking about establishing a petition or so and asking Buffalo to speed up! Or maybe we can all together send email to a governmental organization to ask them do sth for this problem,it is unacceptable to be that much slow !

I agree with u guys.. Lets stand united... Totally unfair... we applied from buffalo for the second time thinking the process will be more fast. Already filed from ndvo in 2006 but that mite take years.. Oh Lord!!!!

Hey Everyone,

I hope all doing well...

I had my one to one session at CIIP today, after attending my full day session yesterday.... I must say it was tooooo good & should be attended by each & every person going to Canada...

Our 1st session was on 14th Feb the Tuesday:-

Started with Shawn who gave an introduction on what Ciip is all about..

Then with Param who gave us an overview on the places to land & a discussion on why other places then major cities like Toronto or Vancouver..

Followed with a session with Beryl, she gave us the knowledge on the Bridging programs, credential assessment & it's importance, Essential skills that you carry which can help you get the job etc...

Then with Shikha who gave us an overview on local transport, sites to visit, govt. agencies for newcomers, & lot more...

15 Feb Wednesday

morning had sessions with our contacts in Canada for anything everything with an overview on different cities (Education, job opportunities)starting from:-

Lina (direct contact for education in Vancouver)

Elena (for Edmonton)

Rena (for Ontario)

All three were very helpful in answering our question & provided us with loads of information...

Ollie (Job opportunities) he is the direct contact for the companies with the vacancies

Then one to one session with Beryl & Ollie to create MAP (My Action Plan) for our success in Canada after landing....

There was a lot more where to land, cost of living in different cities, regulated & non regulated professions, Canadian style resume making, cover letter & lot's more....

So a must attend session would definitely help people migrating to Canada...

Thank you
God bless All,
Regards,
Arun

Hi,

If you exit canada on 01-Mar-12 after landing on 15-Feb-12 and return back on 01-Mar-14, there would be NO problem with your PR status. But do not forget to get your PR card before you exit canada. Also make sure that you spend 2 of next 3 years in canada.

There is no law that one should be in and out of the country(canada) every 6 months?

Hi again Mats,

I haven't heard of any law or obligation to stay in Canada from the time that you land for the first time. You can go back to your country but you have to declare it when you make the first landing and the immigration officer in the airport will ask you about that.(Will you go back to your country again of you intend to settle immediately in Canada?) So you can declare that you will go back but I think that you have to apply for the Permanent resident card and give a secure address so that it will not be stolen and have somebody send it to you.
This is what I know.
For more.. wait for the senior members' advice.

Regards

Same problem at London VO. I have written to them highlighting the situation and am still awaiting response.

Although the waits at the visa offices are frustrating, how will things speed up by querying and raising petitions?

My apologies for repeating what I've probably said a dozen times before :) But every minute spent replying to a request for a status update is a minute not spent processing an actual application.

London VO are particularly slow - we have friends (who use this forum) who applied 1 week after us and got their visas 7 months after us, same visa office, and at the other end of the scale I know of some London applicants who got their visas from application to stamping in 4 months - so I must sympathise with the large level of discrepancy.

But please be honest how much difference will badgering them with reminders and petitions make? No positive difference, probably a negative difference because if they didn't have to reply to such reminders they'd have more time to spend on the actual applications.

Best of luck to everyone, but I think patience will probably yield better results than persistence when it comes to visa office processing :)

Wayne.

Dear Advance
To whom did you write? London visa office or immigration ministry or what?
thanks

Hey Mats,

There will not be any problem... You can enter into CANADA anytime (within your VISA is valid) and move out anytime.... No such law is present that you couldnt leave the country, unless and untill Police official / any juridical decision of that country asked you to do so.. :-\ Unless and untill you have vaid travel doc (PP) you can travel to anywhere, anytime and as many times as you want :) :) .....When you land at Canada, Immigration officer will ask you the question (which Geri mentioned) and that question is valid for your PR card.... You need to submit an address where the card should get delievered.... PR card is expected after 45 to 60 Days from landing so, they need to have such address to send upon.... :P you can submit your friends address as well by saying that your current visit is just for a week or two and you have representative whose address is so n so......
It will be his (ur frnds) resposibility to send the PR card to you by any media.....Unless and untill you have PR card with you; you can not enter into CANADA again so think twice before leaving the country ..... :( But as you said you are planning to come after 2 years, then mean while you will recv your PR card and next landing will not be a problem.... ADDRESS or correspondance is must... and that address should be at CANADA only.... They dont send the PR card our of country.......
COndition on your PR status to become a citizen of CANADA is given at site.... I have not com eacross any such condition which you said about 6 Months in your post.... ???

PS : Above explaination is with my best knowledge and information I gather till date by this forum. If you want you can send the PM to Senior members here like, "mitali","canadestine","jeniya","abaweja","Ar.Sid","cappuccino"....

TC... and dont worry !! :-* :D 8)
