You may not have committed a crime in Malaysia, but you have broken Canadian law by lying to CIC, which is an offence under Canada's immigration laws.

Why can people simply not tell the truth? There is no need to leave any gaps - simply state that you traveled to Malaysia on a student visa and did not complete your studies. Why the need to lie?

I sympathize with anybody making an honest mistake in their application, but people knowingly lying and deceiving CIC it quite another matter.

Wayne.

dear sir, we are one of the seniors and most respected, will you be kind enough to comment on my case more specifically, it will be a mental peace, my question is, will they ever be able to find out hiding travel history though no proof/clue i left to them, e.g. no old passport/ no gap in history after 18+ on the application. thanks.

I really don't think anyone can help you at this stage. And I will advise you stop over flogging this issue because I see you have virtually re-posted this same thing in several other threads. It won't help you either. All you can do now is wait for CIC to make a decision. And by the way, your revelations is beginning to get more incriminating than sympathetic!

During document background checks, the visa office can make all kinds of checks and each application will have a different breadth and depth of investigation depending on the complexity of the application and a number of other factors, including sheer luck.

My opinion is that it's unlikely the visa office will find out about travel history if it is not documented on your passport, but since I don't know for sure how deep their investigations can run, I also can't be completely certain. As another poster has already mentioned, certainly any discrepancy within your forms (for example if you have mentioned this travel history anywhere else on your application) can be picked up. But beyond that, I cannot be sure.

But you're asking us to comment on the question "Will CIC find out that I have lied to them?". Personally I don't treat those that deceive CIC with a great deal of warmth or sympathy, especially when I hear about some of the struggles of honest, genuine applicants.

In short, you will probably get away with it. But bottom line is, you lied to them, and if they do find out they will not only reject this application, but can make you inadmissible to apply again for a number of years.

When it comes to CIC honesty is always the best policy.

Wayne.

Wayne,

I like the way you answered this question.

The error has been made. Sit tight and hope for the best.

They probably will not find out if you haven't mentioned it or shown any other documents from Malaysia in any of your submissions.

I hope it all works out for you.

Deliberately lying on an application is not an "error", is it?

You mean, the deception has been made.

Wayne.

@tiamaria,

your act was intentional and you are trying to deceive cic, only time will tell your fate, you shouldn't have lied, now pray to god for mercy. best of luck.

Overall, how happy are you with your decision to move to Canada, it has been about a year I believe.

Cam

I was going to say the same. It's like Robin and Batman....lol. Nice to see some old members back doing their things :). Brings the thread back to life. All we need now is Dr. Hassib with his photoshoped pictures and Indira to calm things down ;D
