They certainly do look at the file at the deadline of 45 days (or 60 or 90, depending what they have stipulated) because if you have
not submitted the requested documents by the deadline they contact you again and chase them, threatening to discontinue your application.
If you
do send the docs before the deadline, I have seen no evidence to say that they do anything other than log that those docs have been received.
They might, if they choose, get on with the next step of the processing once the docs are received but they might also just leave it until a later date decided upon by them for their own reasons.
