We also got a responsive reply from Buffalo visa office that "Your application is in process. We are unable to provide a date when the
processing of your application will be complete." The reply does also include the information that Ecas doesn't reflect the status of applications being processed outside Canada (it means by all visa offices overseas???)
Admins, pls update our status.

Well, whatever it means, it seems that it will be happening to at least three of us all at the same time!

As my OH is in Canada, there is quite a delay before he receives anything that has been posted in the UK, so if you two
alloushmk and 9jcanada are in the UK, then PLEASE do alert me by Private Message if you receive anything because then I will know to get my husband to check the mail box.
This would be a great help to us because I am concerned about it going to the wrong address.
We notified London of a change of address some time ago, but they are notoriously bad at using the correct address and have been sending Meds and other stuff to the wrong address for other applicants.

Please help me out in this way if you can, you guys!!

I find craigslist the best site across Canada for accommodation and loads of other things as well.

My husband found his lovely little bachelor basement suite on there when he first went to Canada and later I found our beautiful house rental there, so it has been a winner for us.

Not only that, but it is a super resource for furniture and things that you might need in Canada and LOTS OF STUFF INEXPENSIVE OR EVEN FREE!

I have just bought a lovely computer desk in perfect condition from someone down the road who did not need it any more (it is glass and now they have children it is not suitable for them) for $80. It would have cost at least $200 new and it is perfect.

There isn't anything that you cannot find on craigslist!
It advertises yard sales, cars, accommodation, pets, furniture, garden things, toys, wood for stoves, electrical goods, clothes.........EVERYTHING!

As you can see, I am a big fan.

For accommodation, I would recommend a different strategy than the one suggested, though.
I would book into a hotel/motel in your preferred area or nearby for the first week you arrive in Canada. I know this seems expensive, but I believe it is better than getting involved in a rental scam, which has happened to many people. Some unscrupulous landlords exploit immigrants who are abroad and get you to send them a deposit and then you never see them again.

As soon as you get to Canada, get internet access and a cellphone and get searching on craigslist. Many properties go very fast on these sites and so you need to get to see them asap and give a deposit straight away to secure it. I am confident that, like my husband, you will easily find somewhere very suitable within a week if you watch craigslist carefully and telephone and go to view rentals that sound good as soon as they are advertised. Speed is the key!

As for tenancy agreements, there is a standard one which many landlords use because it is suggested by the government and is legally correct.

The Residential Tenancy Agreement is what you need to look at to see what the rules are as standard. Damage deposit should be no more than half a month's rent, for instance.

Also, take copies of the Condition Inspection Report (which is number 3 of the documents available on this page) with you when you go to view any potential rental so that you can do the property check with the landlord right there and then if you like the place.

I hope this has helped anyone who is hoping to rent when they get to Canada initially.

I can vouch for this method as successful and without problems as we have used it ourselves with great success. ;D

Can't understand how come Manila and Pakistan Applicants processing is done withing 5 months??

The same Visa office LONDON serves for other nationals like Indians working in Saudi and Gulf....but for them Processing is late.

Now it is clear. The Canadian Immigration system is based on Quota. For every nationals they have quota allocated. And once the quota is full...they slow down or stop issuing Visa for that nationals.

May be you are right. It’s very difficult to predict time line for various nationality/regions.
But in my opinion, it’s individualized per case. As doc/security checks do vary among individual cases.

I started watching this forum as well NDVO spreadsheet since the day i sent My application to CIO.

What i Observed ....NDVO sent MR

In Feb to Sep Applicants

In March - Oct Applicants

In April - Nov Applicants

In May - Dec Applicants

In June - Jan Applicants

and From July it stopped (just sent 1 or 2 MR for Jan and before applicants)

In july it should be for Feb applicants or atleast atleast in August .....but we can see nothing is happening.

I am deeply anti-racist and although I meet it amongst people of all colours in everyday life, I am always appalled at it. Race and creed differences should never prevent people from knowing and respecting one another as individuals and that is what is nice about this forum.

I am so very pleased to hear that you are able to spend some time with your dear wife and I celebrate your happiness. I know that there is nothing more in the world that I want than to be with my husband and not have to leave him ever again and I will certainly feel your sadness when I hear that your time together has come to an end for now, but I truly hope for a permanent reunion to come for us all very soon.

This process for those like us especially is a testing time but one of the positive things to come from this is that we can take comfort in the fact that we are so lucky to enjoy such a deep and true love with our partners that even miles of separation, huge stress and months apart cannot destroy it.

That is something really miraculous and a gift to be truly thankful for.
Bureaucracy and paperwork may keep us apart but it cannot dampen the love we have and that will get us through this together.
