Hi Sachin,
If you want to apply as a Federal Skilled Worker as Category 1 (where the visa is approved before you go to Canada) then you need to have at least 1 year's experience in one of the 29 in-demand occupations.
First check here which gives a good outline, and explains all the criteria.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp
But in a nutshell to apply as a single applicant you will need
- Proof of $11,115 funds
- 1 year's experience in one of the 29 in-demand occupations
- 67 points on the points matrix (which uses education, language, experience, age, arranged employment and adaptability)
Each of the 29 occupations has a maximum of 1000 applicants who will be considered, and a few of these have already hit their cap. You can check the totals here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp
On 1st July 2011 it is expected the system will change. It's been confirmed that it is likely the points matrix will change - favouring age and language more over work experience points. The list of in-demand occupations may or may not change.
Therefore if you have the 1 year's experience now you are highly advised to get your application in before 30th June 2011 in case the list changes.
Please note you will need to take an IELTS test proving your language capacity in English or French and also send all other supporting documents with your initial application.
If you don't qualify for Category 1 - you can still apply under Category 2 if you can secure a job offer - you will need to get a job offer approved by the government.
Best of luck,
Wayne.
