Oh well - just got a text from my wife who got home. Still no MR for us :(

We seem to be living in an endless world of "there's always tomorrow" at the moment!

The news about 9jcanada's friend though gives another small beacon of hope in the endless pool of anxiety caused by Nectar's ramblings about CHC London!

Wayne.

Lots of research, lots of late-night calls and basically a lot of effort. No, the web pages are a rubbish way for people to find work in Canada. There is no point relying on web links like Job Bank as if you are not legally entitled to work in Canada at the point you apply because they will just bin your application. Canadians are not good with e-mail. They prefer personal contact and I for one can see why - it is the resort of people who do not make an effort. My advice to anyone really wanting or needing to find their job first is do your research on companies that might be interested in what you have to offer and call them personally. Then prove to them that you are serious by making the expensive journey and it can be done.
I am very surprised that anyone should expect any country to be interested in people who think that they can just fire off an e-mail CV and voila! a job will be offered to them.
Many people told us to give up as we weren't on the list but we refused to listen when they said it was impossible and kept on trying anyway.
Canada is a well-of country with a lot to offer to immigrants. Surely it is worth the effort? Cat 1 is actually a very easy route if you qualify for it. It costs some money and time, yes, but other than that it is just waiting.
Those of us without the benefit of being on the list have had to put way more effort into just getting to this stage than Cat 1s, for instance in our case my OH giving up his secure job here, over 7 months of separation from our partner, paying two lots of living expenses and hundreds of pounds we could ill afford for flights to see one another just twice in that time. Cat 1s who are moaning should ask themselves exactly what they have personally risked or sacrificed so far in this process and in most cases the answer will be nothing.
They say getting a job offer and LMO is next to impossible now. Only the very strong, committed and resourceful manage it and those qualities are what Canada wants. We are prepared to prove to Canada that we deserve a place there through our efforts.
People should remember that Canada is protecting its people with these regulations and requirements.
Immigration is not run for the good of the potential immigrant but for the good of the country.
Be glad you are currently meeting their criteria and have this chance.
BTW, I am in no way trivialising the fickle attitude of some government departments in other countries to issuing Visas but there are people who manage it. Effort and Luck are required to win the day.
I got a job in Canada through those web pages, there is proof too, lived and worked in Edmonton for 2 years, lived in St Albert and work for a milling company as Logistics Coordinator, all done through one of those web pages, while living there I also met people whose job search lasted more than six months....and of course there are cases like yours and like mine, do not discourage people to try their own way, I was serious about my job search and I got a job through internet, if you have the money and time to fly over Canada to do your own search go for it!!!!, anything you can do to reach your dream
And if you use the job bank tool, look for jobs for FOREIGN WORKERS, how can they bid your application if that is what they are looking for??? try everything you can guys :)

Hi Everyone :)

My ecas status is "In Process" with the following text:

"We received your application for permanent residence on November 19, 2010.

We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on February 25, 2011. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

Your application was reviewed and we started processing on February 25, 2011."

Firstly I don't understand how my PER and processing dates are the same? Secondly, my status has always been "In Process" - I never got a RBVO status.

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks :)

Queencougar,

I'm beginning to feel bad I went the easy way and not sacrificed enough ;). By the way , how do you measure sacrifice? I want to measure mine just to see where I'm standing. Maybe we should add another column to our tracker called "Sacrifice", that way we can see who really deserves to get a visa and how fast.
We obviously have different perceptions when it comes to this issue. I personally believe that people who have put their life on hold for many years ( backlog apps) are the most entitled to get a visa. Sure, circumstances have changed over the years, politically and economically, but are they at fault? Just imagine if the new Canadian government would do the same thing to our apps. Waiting in line , with your life on hold, for so many years?, now that's a big sacrifice. Others believe to have done the supreme sacrifice just by leaving their families behind. Every applicant will/have sacrifice/sacrificed something by taking this road but I believe we should not make our business by pointing out who sacrificed more or who sacrificed less.

Alex.

Tomorrow, tomorrow..... everything is going to be alright tomorrow.
All we can say is that one day it will be true. :-*
Then we will see you for that beer. ;)

Btw, I asked about his file number, he said the sticker on the letter that was sent him showed GCMS number B05xxxxx whatever that means. Hope this helps.

Alex.
Sarcasm does not become you, Alex.
You reveal your own misunderstanding.
I do not compare more or less, just ask others not to compare by saying we in European countries have it easier than other nationalities.
Cat 1s or Cat 2s, whatever nationality, whatever job, whatever route - I posted to point out that we have all got our sacrifices to make and our hurdles to jump, whether they be political, bureaucratic, financial or personal. Each applicant has their own unique combination of issues which no other can know. No-one has it easier and despite what others might think, living in the UK is not a free pass to Canada.
Secondly, as other forums make clear, Cat 1s with good sense do not put their lives on hold at all, they just carry on as they were until news comes. Many I have read have advised Cat 1s to do just that, so those who ignore good advice from those who have gone before do so at their own risk.
As I said in my post, everyone here should be happy that they have this chance, they should not think anyone anywhere else has an easier time of it and most certainly should not expect Canada to loosen their immigration laws just because they don't suit everyone.
Congrats to India on the cricket and to Pakistan for being worthy opponents. A great match does both sides credit :D My husband will have been listening avidly as he is a big cricket fan.

1.The only reason I wrote a reply to your previous post was because you called CAT 1 applicants moaners. Your reasoning behind that was that we sacrifice nothing compared to you and your husband. I found that to be a rude comment.

2. It is a lot easier to secure a job in Canada when you don't need a visa to get in. You can't argue that.

3. IMO we put our lives to a halt for the duration of this process. I can't make any long-term plans here in the US and I believe we are all in the same situation. I was telling you that I feel bad for people who put a stop on their plans 5,6,7 years ago. How about that for an unfair process?

4.Where's my misunderstanding?
