Hmmm. Is there any reason he can't get an account and post here himself? Otherwise it makes auditing rather difficult and also all the information is second hand. Anyway for now I'll just put "Friend of kpkinnera" in the last posted column.

Thanks,

Hi Wayne,
I wonder why you bother with applicants from other websites at all. I have noticed some people from Arab forums being added to this tracker and also people suggesting other people to add on. If people are not willing to speak up on this forum and add their details themselves, why should they be on this tracker? They seem to be more interested in other fora so let them be.
I believe doing this will help tidy up this tracker even better.

Hi,

Well I can say from experience that I already know more than some consultants! Been to an immigration fair or two and some of the ignorance of the process displayed by some consultants/laywers is horrific.

Last one I went to, a lawyer (head honcho at Goldman Associates) described FSW1 as a "lottery" saying only 20,000 out of 200,000 applications would get visas so try your luck being one of the "lucky" 10%. He didn't seem to get it that it's the FIRST eligible 20,000 which will be processed, and in any event it's very unlikely that 20,000 will even be reached.

Turns out he was dissing FSW1 because he wanted people to apply FSW2 so that he could also bag loads of cash for getting you a job via his recruitment agency in addition to the visa.

Oh, and he had never heard of an eligibility review!

And I've heard a list of horror stories as long as my arm of the varying incompetencies of immigration lawyers, all charging extortionate rates.

I think with some certainty that quite a few of us know more than quite a few immigration lawyer/consultants. At least when it comes to Federal Skilled Worker.

Wayne.

There are still issues ahead, for some people, with regards to Criminal and Medical inadmissibility. The land mark ruling, last year, which made it clear that VOs cannot simply refuse a Visa on the basis of some medicals conditions, which does not affect their social relations, and which is within acceptable costs has established a need to employ a lawyer if you have problems. Simply because a person is on long term prescription is no longer a reason for them to be refused a visa. I sure hope the Medical Examinations will not throw up surprises for people. People who use lawyers are just being extra cautious. Why take a risk with their future?

Well adding them wasn't my idea tbh - but don't really have any objections since the more accurate information we have the better. But in order to maintain accurate information we must ensure users are active and keeping us up to date with their progress, so I guess it relies on ensuring the admins relate the information from the arabic forum regularly enough.

My understanding is that CIC won't "fail" your application outright for medical issues. Rather, anything which crops up which they have concerns with they will write to you and may ask you to prove how you will fund any excessive medical demands above and beyond what they generally offer on their national health.

For obvious reasons serious contagious diseases would probably have to be treated/cured before they could allow entry.

But I've never heard recently of anyone actually getting a straight rejection in the first instance as a result of a medical.

I won't deny having a problem with Goldman as well. I attended a fair on the 26th of June 2010 and they told me that, as an architect, I was not eligible. They were quite dismissive of me. Getting home that day, I discovered that the rules had been changed to include architects. It proved to me that they where not staying current with new developments because the rules were changed on the same day. A week later they began to badger me with emails and calls to apply through them but I didn't. I took my time to find a lawyer with good reputation and I have applied through them. I couldn't get it out of my head that they were just in it for the money. They may be good but they don't inspire confidence for me.

I can assure you there have been. Somebody had to take the appeal to court through an immigration lawyer for the decision to be overturned last year. Yes you will now be allowed to treat contagious disease before getting in but if your situation requires extensive social care or expensive medical procedures, you may still be refused except you are a spouse or dependant and you can prove enough resources to take care of the problem.

Well all the lawyers I have interracted with (Goldman and also Dennis Brazolot are two that spring to mind, but have met several others at fairs) have all given the impression of just being in it to squeeze as much money out of you as possible.

When we saw Brazolot prior to the new rules coming out, when we thought we would have to get a job offer and go FSW2, they were going to charge us £7000 to get a visa. If he completely FAILED to get us the visa he would still charge £1500!

Just couldn't see what value he would be adding, and am very glad we decided now to do it ourselves.

May I ask why you decided to go via a lawyer rather than doing it all yourself?

Wayne.

I agree Wayne:). I would say there is absolutely no need of lawyer assistance for normal applications, where there are no complications like criminal records etc.,

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.
