Hi Indira,

I am wondering about the process that you described.

Initially, I thought the same like what you described in step 4. that they check if the application forms are all complete, payments are OK, all required documentation are enclosed and that they check if we have a valid 1 year experience in the claimed NOC(a part of the 29 occupations list).

And then under point 5. If yes, they give an AOR and put the file into processing :), If not they send the application back stating the reason for return.

I am a bit worried about my work experience so I was very relieved when I saw that they've charged me the processing fee. I thought that that means that I passed eligibility review and that my case has been put in processing.

But then I saw in the spread sheet that some people were rejected for insufficient work experience after the fee has been charged!

Does that mean that they review minimal eligibility more then once and can make two different decisions?

I would love to hear your input! If anyone else have info please share :)

Thanks everyone!

~Ira

The process listed above is slightly incorrect in that they actually count the 67 points before issuing PER. We know this because people have had their application refused, with no AOR/PER, due to insufficient ponts.

Regrettably charging the processing fee only means that your application passed the completeness check (i.e. all forms, documents and payment are in order). It does not mean you passed your eligibility review yet. The part where they assess your work experience under the ministerial instructions, and add up your 67 points, is done after the fee payment is taken.

Nothing much to do but sit and wait for the email - it will either be a positive or negative eligibility review, best of luck for a positive one! :)

Hello :)

Welcome to this thread :)

So, yes, there was a slight difference in my quoted 'process post' ???

We initially guessed they would send out an AOR after completeness check, but they skipped that one. No one received anything from them, until they sent out the results of the eligibility review.

In short, they will contact the applicants only with the results of the 7th stage(as quoted).

As your payment was encashed, you definitely passed the completeness check, and your file will already be in the queue for the eligibility review.

Eligibility review is a more detailed one and so it takes about 3 - 4 months these days. Hope you sail through that easily(provided the work related documents are sufficient enough to satisfy them) and get your PER soon :)

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

That's what I thought...The only thing that confuses me is that they do say at the end of the application package that that they do both: Completeness check as well as Eligibility Review, which includes determining if application qualifies for processing under one of the two categories described in the Ministerial Instructions. And after that is Selection and Admissibility phase. The only think that confuses me is why would they charge the processing fee if your application does not meet minimal eligibility requirements...But that's just me! They must have some kind of reasoning behind it...

I only have three more months to wait to find out :o

Thanks Wayne for the information and encouragement!

Well application influx is winding down a bit, so by the time it gets to you the process may be a bit shorter than 4 months, but certainly you're looking at least another 2 month wait.

If it's any consolation the waiting gets no better after you receive PER!

Ah come on Wayne, I am a reasonablely good cook and I normally eat my own cooked food almost everyday, but to celebrate something like PER, I don't want to jump around in the kitchen :P Junk food can make me happy (non-nutritious me) :D

Hello Nasha16,
Welcome to this forum, and good luck,
there are a few things which I need to acquire. Did (cic) receive your package (if you sent through courier, you can get this information through tracking number). The most important thing you need to know is, was your CC/Baank Draft got cashed? If yes, then you'll certainly receive something from CIC these days.
One important tip: Don't forget to check the junk email folder of your mailbox.
I hope it helps...
