Hello people!!

I sent my citizenship application from Toronto on June 4, 2013, but have not received the acknowledgement letter yet.
I know CIC is on strike but I cannot stop imagining something is going wrong.
Because I haven't gotten the letter, I can't even track the status online.
The only thing I know for sure is that the package was successfully delivered on June 11, 2013.
Should I call CIC?

Are there people who sent the application after June 4, but received the acknowledgement already?

Thanks!

I sent my application off to CIC last November as an Outland applicant, and never ever received acknowledgement.

Some visa officers do it, some don't. I wouldn't take it as a bad sign, but definitely send them an email and make sure they received it.

No harm in that!

If you have tried checking your application status online, I would highly recommend you to contact CIC, as they have started opening applications received as of July 5th 2013.

I checked ecas since the day I sent the package to Sydney, but both my permanent resident card number and receipt number failed.
I read the posts about June applicants' acknowledgements were given out since the end of the august, but apparently I am not one of them :(
I guess calling CIC is the first thing I will do next morning...

I just called CIC and the agent I spoke to said my file is not in the database, meaning that it hasn't been open yet or sent back.
I was also told to call them back in two weeks so I guess I just have to wait...

Nope, ecas still says "We were not able to identify you using the information you provided."
I'm thinking of calling CIC on next Monday, but at this moment, I guess my application is missing even though Canada Post said it was successfully delivered.
It is also very upsetting that CIC does not know whether my file hasn't been just open yet or sent back to me since they do not know if they have even received yet.
Should I be sending another package?
Do I have to pay another $200 to send another application?

If your application is lost, you don't have to pay again. Just use the same receipt. But make sure with CIC before resending.

But the thing is, even CIC does not know whether it is lost or not.
When I called them about 2 weeks ago, they told me that "we do not know where it is or if your file had been returned. Just wait for 2-4 weeks."
The only thing I have is the tracking number that I received from Canada Post and the signature obtained by CIC.
It has been 4 months already and I'm getting desperate.

Hi chaotic91, i was in similar situation as u are now. i am a may applicant (2013) and my ecas status was not updated until early September. i was worried whether my file was lost or they returned (due to completeness). I was even thinking if i resend again the consequence ll be the same (in case if something missing in the original application for example language proof i supplied my diploma). whenever i called to CIC i got different answers. sometimes they were saying wait for 2 weeks and sometime 6 weeks. At last the cic agent said if i dont see any update within a week i should reapply. i was gathering documents again and was about to resend. i thought why not call last time (in the morning) u know what the agent told me we just open your file. After 2-3 days my e cas was updated though i have not got any AOR (when inquired about it they send me a e mail showing the link to STUDY GUIDE). that's my story i guess u r going through now.

My advice to you keep calling twice a week. that's what i did.i know this is frustrating.

Hey Simkr,

Thanks for the advice. I read all the MAY applicant posts and your situations.
I guess that is exactly what I'm going through.
I was just waiting for the two weeks to get past but now I know I would have to call CIC at least twice a week!
I will let you know the update as soon as I call them on the next Monday.

UPDATE

I just called the call centre and apparently the file was sent to the financial department on September 17, 2013.
They said they have a problem with the payment which I had made online.
This explains the situation a little bit since I think I know what the problem is.

This goes back to the day I made payments, May 21, 2013.
When I tried to make a payment on the first time, the online payment method website said it "FAILED" the transaction.
Then I tried again, and it said it was successfully completed. I received the receipt by email.
However, when I checked my credit card balance, the online payment method actually charged me twice counting both the "failed" transaction and the second transaction.
I sent an email to the financial department about the transactions and eventually got refund.
Until now I thought that the refund was for the "failed" transaction.
Now the agent tells me that the refund might have been for the second payment and that is why causing the receipt problem.
Because I never received a receipt for the "failed" transaction CIC might have refunded for the second one instead..
He also told me that this is very common and to wait until January 17th, 2014!!

Moreover, because the file is still in Sydney, it hasn't been transferred to the local office and ECAS update is not created yet.
Once the file is brought back from the financial department, they will start reviewing my case..

I think I will make another call soon asking them if it will be faster if I just send another application.
That is where I am at right now.
