hi everyone
i have quietly used this forum to help my husband and i through our canadian visa sponsor application and everyone is so knowledgeable. hopefully i can get some help with this too.
some back story:
my now husband, an american, got a DUI ten years ago and we've tried to go through the canadian border together but he has been denied entry even with all his 'rehabilitation' papers. so i came down and we spontaneously got married. i'm waiting for him to be able to come back to canada with me so i'm not leaving him here (if i did, i have way overstayed my visit so i wont be allowed back in the states anyway). so this leaves him having to pay 100% of our bills and me twiddling my thumbs anxiously all day.
I sent our spousal sponsorship application for him to be allowed into canada back in november. he sent in his enhanced driver license... I could have sworn that was accepted in place of a passport. we have gotten our application back and it's been deemed incomplete due to no passport. they also asked us to follow the feb 2018 checklist from now on and didn't mention the full amount we paid already.
questions:
1. do we have to redo all our paperwork to fit the 2018 one? they don't specify
2. is there any way to get this visa process expedited? it feels like an eternity having to wait another year
3. is there a phone number or email to contact them? i can't find anything anywhere. the canadian website is confusing.
4. do i have to repay them? i have my receipt but if i redo all my 2017 paperwork to fit the new 2018 guidelines, something/numbers might not match?
hope i made some sense. i'm super overwhelmed. any advice is welcomed and very appreciated.
