Hey guys,

I've got a quick question here for you all and I appreciate any help you can give me.

On the surface, my answer to this question is, Yes. I have been back to the UK 4 times over the past 4 years:

Trip 1 - 13 days for cousin's wedding
Trip 2 - 151 days (when I left Canada to wait for my PR to be granted - between my work permit and PR).
Trip 3 - 6 days for another cousin's wedding
Trip 4 - 45 days for a wedding and Christmas last year

Total - 215 days.

Here is my question. On my Physical Presence Calculator the # days column for Trip 1 shows 6.5 days - the reason being that this was during my temporary worker period so all days in Canada and outside Canada are treated as half days. Also, Trip 2 actually states 0 days - because this was after my work permit expired and before my PR was initiated.

So, in reality, yes, I have been out of Canada for more than 183 days in the past 4 years. However, my Physical Presence Calculator's calculation says no, because some days don't count.

In your opinion will I still need the police check for the UK? Or, will they go by the calculator and not bother about the time I was there between my work permit and PR?

Many thanks for your help in advance!

Jon

The calculator only applies to your residency days. It does not apply to your requirements for a police check. Based on the data your provided, it looks like you will need one.
