application returned today

Hi all

my entire package was returned today due to wrong payment as mentioned in the accompanied letter. I am applying with my 2 dependant children ages 17 getting to 18 and 16 getting to 17 yrs and i paid $550 for myself and $150 each for my dependant children total of $850 with credit card. The VO mentioned that my processing fee is $1250. I don't know how he came up with $1250 since i am applying for myself and my 2 dependants ( under 22 yrs) with no spouse included for processing (currently separated). from the calculation of fees highlighted, the vo added $550 x 2 + 150 making it total of $1250. i am wondering how he came up with $550x2. There is no other adult in my application other than myself. So how will i deal with this??? can somebody help me to figure this issue out??? i am not in a good mood now... i guess i am out of july applicants

in the generic form, in the section under immigration office requested for processing application, i wrote case processing pilot-ottawa but the vo crossed it out and wrote buffalo with red pen. i thought buffalo office is now closed and that all in canada application goes to cpp-o for further processing, why did the officer crossed out cpp-o and replace it with buffalo???????? i am getting more confused here

sorry to hear that. try to call the immigration and explain your case. sometimes there are mistakes too.

Sorry to hear that ujbaby. I know it is frustrating.

Perhaps they consider the age of the children as on when the application will likely get processed (lets say 5-6 months from now)
Call the call center and ask for clarification before resubmitting.
If you are applying with the new fees, please keep a copy of the accompanying letter or an explanation letter, lest another VO decides to calculate the fees in a different way..

seekr, I somehow find that hard to believe.....cos they would be judging the application in its present form, not its future probability.

Hey ujbaby, is any of your child in a live in relationship? or married? because if even 1 of them is then $550 applies to them irrespective of their age. Or the VO genuinely made a mistake. Confirm it with the call centre (though I assume they would not be able to help you much) or send an email to Sydney. This really sucks!


2ndly, I dont think you should read much into visa office correction. I guess that is more of their internal issue. It clearly states on the website that the visa office is CPP-O

If none of your children are married or in a common-law relationship, then $850 should be right. Check with the call centre and see if they have any input. Failing that, you have to make a choice between sending the application with $1250 as requested or sending the application again with $850 and a letter explaining why that amount is correct.

none of my kids are married neither are they in common law relationships. my children are singles.. i called cic but the answer wasn't helpful at all. The agent that i spoke with told me that he can't help much since i am applying outside of canada. when i told him that my application was inside canada,(sydney) and not outside canada, he said that it doesn't matter because cec is still considered outside canada. he advised me to call sydney or send them mail to verify. he wasn't helpful as i thought. i am thinking of including a written explanation and send my application out again.
i will explain clearly that i am applying for myself alone with my 2 children under 22yrs and that they are not married nor in any relationship.
i am also thinking of filling out 2 payment fee forms, one will be $850 and another one will be $1250 and include a written explanation for the officer to choose one of the payment form, Then the officer will choose which one is correct and disregard the other one and then charge my Credit card. This is a total mess on my side because my visa will expire in august 2013 and i dont think it can be renewed any longer.

Take heart dear and don't lose hope. Had this not happened, you would have received the AORin a few weeks. So it's possible to be done by Aug 2013. Be sure to include the documents request form that was returned with your application.

Thanx all. i will send my application out again tommorow with 2 fee payment forms ($850 and $1250) Then the VO will choose the correct one and disregard the other. i will attach a written explanation. i am now august applicant. make sure you mention your spouse is not included in your application.(You mention his details, but say he is not accompanying you in application). May be VO is assuming he is there. And the $1250 makes no sense, because both your kids are singles. You should write an explanation letter, by explaining all these to the visa officer. May be he made mistake. Also, if you have study or work permit valid, you do not need to care about visa. Only thing, once you apply for PR, you wouldn't be able to ask for visa renewal. However, now a days, under CEC you get PR in 6 months. Good Luck with all your efforts. Don't worry, you would come out as a winner.

A permanent resident application is separate from a TRV or work permit application. You can still obtain a work visa even after applying for PR... there is something called "dual intent". As usual, you have to satisfy the officer that you will leave at the end of your authorized stay. So unless the OP is under a category that does not allow her to renew her work permit and visa, she can still do so.

Agreed, my friend got 3 years WP just 2 months before his Passport request.
Once he landed they cancelled his WP

i remember one of my friend's PR was under process, and his visa got expired, he was on study permit, he couldn't renew his visa, and he was unable to go back home country to see his sick father. You can renew your work or study permit, while your PR is under process, but the consulate would reject your visa application. It was a rule back in 2011. May be it got changed in 2012. Anybody has any information directly from CIC?
