If you apply for GCMS, you will get a detailed information on your application such as medical if you passed it, if they still need additional documents, deadline in processing your application, etc. These are very important information for me, since i didnt get any email from them about my file being transferred, basically, I was clueless what's going on. I applied for GCMS last month because I knew that is the only option that I can do to see any updates regarding my file, especially I knew that CIC will not reply to my emails because I was still within their normal processing period.

There were cases as well that some application were just sitting there in visa offices and no one is working on to process their application. Time could just have been wasted and time is very much important for me. Immigration staff are the ones working on GCMS, so, they would see if your application is in idle and they can make necessary actions right away.

Any information to my application would be very helpful especially now.

@haybu12,

If you have no information about your file, it makes sense.

If I did not get the email that my case is in Seattle.
I had no idea what has happened to my application.
I can not log in ECAS.
I can not read anything about my file or far they are.

And then there was the border official said to me.
He can not see any file from me in the CIC database.
What should I say? :o

But if you can see in your status on ECAS.
And you've got a mail that your file is transmitted.
What then is the inquiry?

I read a lot of people that they have the information and requests for the GCMS.

And I honestly, I do not believe in anything that goes faster after you have submitted the GCMS.

I am pretty much on the same boat as yours with no email updates after medicals.

I emailed Detroit office thinking it went there. They were kind enough to repond quick. This is what they said:

"Records indicate your file was in process at the Buffalo office which has now been officially closed.
Files still in process were forwarded to the CPP-Ottawa office.
You should receive correspondence and instructions from that office once your file is reviewed."

I emailed Ottawa, but they haven't reponded back yet. Their auto-reply said it might take 20 business days to repond back even if your file exceeded 15 months.
For files within 15 months, no response..

I don't understand as to what more is required to be processed after receiving medical results. Itz been a month since I applied for GCMS.
I bet that this GCMS would be taken up with a low priority when they are already swamped with so many files.

The last time they updated my ECAS status was in October 2011 when they received my medical results...After 8-9 months, there were no updates. I even changed my mailing address to another address a month ago, but it hasnt reflecting on my ECAS. So I am wondering if they are putting any updates to it?

Good for you that you PERSONALLY received an email pertaining to which Visa office and when your file was transferred, in my case, I needed to email them because I didnt know WHEN and WHERE my file was being transferred to. True that I got a reply from CPP Ottawa, and they said my file is currently in Seattle, then directed me to send case specific enquiry to find out what is going on. I am assuming that they didnt really pull up information in my file, they just told me it's in Seattle because I said I live in BC. (Which I think those application under BC-PNP were automatically being transferred to Seattle).

I read a lot of people that they have the information and requests for the GCMS.

GCMS is a provision by Canadian government to take a look and see any pertinent information relevant to our application while still under process. There are changes going on with CIC, and they provided GCMS to us so we are not lost. So, why not take advantage of it?

And I honestly, I do not believe in anything that goes faster after you have submitted the GCMS.

I didnt say that by applying GCMS notes, it will speed up your application, but if there was error committed, then at least you are aware of it and you can contact them (CIC) about it.

You must be confident that your file is in process, BUT I AM NOT, especially I've had experience that when they sent my PNP certicate, it was sent to a wrong mailing address, and it took me 3 precious months before I got it.

Well, they really need to respond back to us, because we followed with their regulation and patiently waited for 15 long months with no email or updates from them...I mean they need to be fair...its over 15 months and still we get nothing.

I dont know about the GCMS thing, but if my file is really in Seattle VO and the lady I was exchanging emails with is in Ottawa, who works under Citizenship and Multiculturalism -CIC (ATIP request)... As far as I know, it's 2 different departments but both can access and pull up our files with their system and it wont affect or slow down their work.

to bb_imm,

Would you mind if I ask which province you're from?

So funny because I first emailed CPP-Ottawa thinking that my file was transferred there based on this site http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/buffalo.asp

I emailed them last Tuesday and received a reply after 2 days, and sent me this:

This is in response to your email (see below).

Please note that your file is currently in Seattle, United States; please forward your email to:

Case Specific Enquiry:
https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=seattle
General Enquiry:
http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/seattle/right_nav/enquiries-en.asp
Regards,

So, I sent case specific enquiry to Seattle office, and got an automated response that it will take them 28 dyas before I get a reply from them.
By that time, I'll be over my 16 month period.

@ haybu12,

No, I'm not sure.

What I have learned here in Canada is to have patience.
And do not ask for meaning or the sence behind it.
Or why one person gets his PR earlier and he has applied later...
That makes no sense at all.

No, I'm not sure.
What can I change...... nothing
I wish everyone receives the information as far as his case is.
And how long it can take until a decision can be made.
But I think that's probably a dream.

Yeah I can hear you. That's what we are all doing, BEING PATIENT.
But at the same time, we need to do something, ask them what's going on, so we know if they are really working on to our application. We might be waiting and waiting, but if we dont ask them, how would we know that they are really processing our application? I don't want to regret something because I didnt do anything to check my application.

I've waited for 15 months and I think it's reasonable to contact them now since its over the normal processing times. And I will do any available options that I have to get any updates ;D

Nope, I'm only on this forum about once a week now as well since it doesn't do me any good to be thinking about the PPR constantly. Hope all is well with everyone and we all get PPR in the next 15 mins :D :D :D
