Hi people...

Quick question: I'm a Canadian citizen, and near the end of this year I will be sponsoring my future wife (Indonesian) to Canada. We haven't decided when to send the application to CPC-M, but probably sometime in November or December 2012.

After we've sent the application, she plans to visit Canada (2 or 3 weeks), which means she will need to apply for a tourist visa. I am fully aware that once we've submitted a sponsorship application, it will be hard for her to get her TRV application approved. However, I know at least 3 Canadian-Indonesian couples who did the same, and the Indonesian spouse got their TRV just fine. So hopefully we will get lucky too!

They said that what helped a lot were the following:

1. The Indonesian spouse got an employment letter from their boss, ensuring that they would return to Indonesia and not stay in Canada illegally.

2. They included the sponsorship application number within the Indonesian spouse's tourist visa application.

So, we've decided that she will do the 2 things I just mentioned above.

Now here's the thing: I think the first stage (sponsor approval) usually happens within 60 to 90 days since the application got submitted right? Is that how long it takes for us to get the application/case number then?! If yes, wow that would suck then.......because then it also means my future wife will have to wait 60 to 90 days before she can apply for her tourist visa...

Thoughts?

I don't know anything about TRV'S.... but yes it will take you 60 to 90 days or whatever their 1st stage (sponsorship approval) is taking @ that time.... and yes it' does suck but we have all had to wait atleast that if not more... but you could send her a copy of the receipt that you get when you pay the PR fee's it will atleast show you have done that much I mean who's gonna pay $1040 and not actually file ::)

Just apply separately after you submit the application. They won't even know since they probably wouldn't have even looked at the application (if the processing times stay longer by then). She probably will have gone there and back and they still wouldn't have seen the pr file! I wouldn't worry too much, but do ensure a letter from her employer is included for the TRV. CIC really looks to see if there are ties in the home country, otherwise, odds are it will be denied.
