Hi - My score is 345 and i have still some leeway on IELTS. But i still would reach only 376 if I get CLB9. I got an offer in Canada and would be joining the empoyer soon..

Are there any other way other than FSW to intitate my PR? I have heard about a category called Canadian Experience Category, but not sure if it requires one year of work ex in Canada?

Any advice will be appreciated!

Hi My Dears, Best way to Canada is a Study visa. If you are aged over may be will not work. But once you are approved for a study visa you will be here in a year. Your spouse can work for a full time job. You can work a few hours in a period of time. After your course You can stay and try jobs. If you get a full time job, You won the match. You can apply for a PR and your life would be settle here. Around 20,000 CAD need for a 1 year course+family expense. In your tax return filing after getting a job, can claim your course fee. They will return an amount which depends on your income. And also you can try scholarships. I saw lots of people already here through this way. Good Luck to all....
It's also not easy to get study permit

please refer to this thread created by raj for PNP programs

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/oinp-ee-human-capital-priorities-stream-comprehensive-guide-t396543.0.html

according to previous OINP regulation, cut off score had to be above 400 to receive PT notification to apply for OINP... this could change this year - no one knows... FYI - OINP is not accepting any new requests for nominations since May 2016

i think you should also look at increasing CRS score, best way to do this is by writing IELTS again... you should aim for 8,7,7,7 in listening reading writing speaking ... anything less than this in any of the bands will reduce score by >40 points or so...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp - this is the CRS tool used to calculate scores... you can play around with it and see how each item can impact CRS score :)

good luck

Ok, your chances with the current score are something like 0.
In order to get advice what to improve, you need to state what you have:
1. IELTS / TEF results
2. Education (how many years of post secondary you have and if you have Master or PHD)
3. Age
4. Amount of years of international experience and or Canadian experience
5. Single or with common law / spouse. And if not single what is education and language result of your partner.

Thank you for the response @vensak. Here you go! any further suggestions are greatly aprpeciated.

1. IELTS - 7.5 Overall (L - 8.5, R - 7.5, W - 7.5, S - 7.5
2. Education (how many years of post secondary you have and if you have Master or PHD) - Masters but not in a reputed university. So I am counting only my Bachelors.
3. Age: 33
4. Amount of years of international experience and or Canadian experience: Nil. Have visited a few countries as a part of business. Not sure if that counts.
5. Single or with common law / spouse. And if not single what is education and language result of your partner. - With spouse. overall IELTS score of 5.5

OK I see, and with international experience is meant any work experience outside Canada that is type 0, A or B.

And also you did not state your spouse education (from high school up it can bring you points).

As for your education, you need ECA results (it does not matter how famous your school is, all it matters if ECA sais it is Master or not.) And also do you have any second university diploma (at least for 1 years studies), that would give you more points on transferability.

would you do following, you can get few more points just to cross 400 points and become visible for Ontario human priorities:

1. Your spouse shall improve her English a bit and retake IELTS in order to get more points (that can give you 3+ points)
2. ECA of the diploma of your spouse (high school gives 1 point and anything above including trades gives more).
3. Learn French to get points for second language
4. get 1 year of University diploma to get more transferability points for 2 diplomas
5. recheck years of your work experience, if you get 3 or more years, you will get full transferability points for that.

Good luck.

Thanks again mate! I think I fall under category 0 when it comes to international work experience.

1. Your spouse shall improve her English a bit and retake IELTS in order to get more points (that can give you 3+ points) - Will try this for sure.
2. ECA of the diploma of your spouse (high school gives 1 point and anything above including trades gives more). - She is a post graduate. We haven't included her since we do not have ECA yet. I think that will get us another 10 points.
3. Learn French to get points for second language - Well, not sure about this one as its a completely new thing and not sure if I can do something within the next 6 months. But will give a honest attempt.
4. get 1 year of University diploma to get more transferability points for 2 diplomas - Can you please throw some light on this? Any diploma would work or should that be Post graduate diploma kinda?
5. recheck years of your work experience, if you get 3 or more years, you will get full transferability points for that.- I have close to 13 years of work experience in total.

2 diplomas and how it work.

One Diploma must be post secondary degree of education of at least 3 years (and you have that for sure)
The second diploma must be something of a post secondary degree (after high school studies). Technicaly it can even be from a different specialisation or from your specialisation (for example MBA). Sometimes it is even that you have one diploma from the general part of your studies and one from Magister part of your studies.

So 2 diplomas, Master or PHD can get you with your language test 50 points of transferability. (now you have there just 25 because of no Master).
And of course you will get few more points for education itself.

Okay, I see how it works. I have masters but not from a recognized university. So the attorney through whom I am filing PR, mentioned that it is not possible to go through since its an exec. MBA (1 year) and that's why I had to live with graduation only.

Appreciate your help!! Good to know these details and see what else can be done to boost up my score a bit.

What does your ECA say. I have seen people come away with some additional post secondary diploma for any other specialisation (no MBA was needed).

I was asked not even to consider MBA by my attorney since its not from a valid univ. Its from National Institute of Business Management. Because of this reason, I ended up taking only graduation transcripts and finished my ECA.

It is not up to your consultant to decide if your education is valid and can be assessed, it is up to one of the ECA service providers.

Just to try it (to send out required transcripts and translations together with your first diploma in case you have your MBA), would have been good idea.
Wost case, they would answer you, that that diploma could not be recognised and in that case, you would only ask them to issue your ECA for your valid diploma.

And yes, your school does not have to be universtiy, but as long as the education is recognised as accepted, then you are good to go.

You pay for 1 service for 1 person regardless if they assess 1 or 3 of your diplomas. (of course if you send them all in one application, and not if you order additional assessment now).
