I am still awaiting my passport to be received back. This process has been so painful and annoying. I sent them my passport on 8th May with it being received in Vienna on 12th May. Sent them an email on 23rd May since 10 days of processing was over but just received an automated reply. It's been more than a month I have been without my passport and this is quite frankly disgusting. (Its a visitor visa application)

Anyone has got any clue what I can do now? (I had sent the mail using DHL but since I hadn't included a return courier slip I will receive it via snail mail)

any help/suggestions are very much appreciated.

Vikiwow, how long did it take for them to inform you from the day they received it till the day they confirmed?
I need to really travel on thursday and I fear my passport wont be ready

Friday received, on Thursday they sent me mail, but it took 6 more days to get them back

Outside temperatures are very high, so the drought in environment is likely to occurr.

Looks like Vienna VO started to plan their vacation so they got a bit lazy in doing their work
I mean they cannot be productive all the time ;D

So we sent our passport on Thursday last week by DHL from Prague. Its was signed and received by the embassy on Friday last week.
Unfortunately DHL said we cant buy a pre-paid return voucher that once it is ready for pickup we can other the return service and they will pick up.

How would we know our passports are ready? Will the embassy write us or do we need to contact the embassy? Problem is I need to travel for work to Asia on thursday :-(

If you are in a hurry, and you mean this Thursday - 18.06 - there is only one option - call them asap tomorrow morning and in wednesday go there in person- If hte passport is brought to them in the morning (by 9.30) it should be done the same day afternoon. Since your pass is at VO, this is the only way you could board the plane for Asia of Thursday 18.06.

we had the same situation ( without need to travel somewhere) anyhow we send the passports trough DHL as you, and we wrote to - and they answered that passports are already on their way back, which was true because we received them one day before their answer. From the day they received till the passports came back trough regular mail the time was about two weeks.
check your ecas if it's decision made - then your passport is on the way

Strangers I wish that you receive prompt positive reply, fingers crossed.

On the other side it seems that we have clear way in front of us.
ECAS is updated:

1. We received your application for permanent residence on November 7, 2014.
2. We started processing your application on May 18, 2015.
3. Medical results have been received.
4. A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

We have sent our passports via UPS and it has been received on June 10th. Yesterday we got letter from post that we have shipment from embassy to pick up so early morning we will pick up our passports that has been sent by snail mail. I am not sure if snail mail is correct term since it took only 6 days for them to ship it and arrive.

Although there is a chance that we got rejected I am quite positive it is not the case!
So next step is to plan landing asap!
