Received passport requested yesterday and sent it out with DHL immediately from Prague to Vienna.. Since we are travelling on booked holidays nextweek, we wanted to send it out soonest hoping that we will get it back next week.


Once we get confirmation from the embassy the passport is ready, we will call DHL to arrange for pick up and return to Prague.

Fingers crossed as we wait for the last step.

One question.

Is it OK if I will go first to the medical exam and than to change my old passport to a new one? Reason is expiration date.

There will be some issues or not?

Primarius, go for medical with old passport since its the old passport the physician as in the system. But immediately apply for a new passport like now. its roughly 2 weeks max after medical that passport request happens.

We had the same issue with my wife as she had a different surname in her old passport but that was what came with medical exam so we did the exam with old passport and wrote to VO with new passport details.

My husband is an electrician, as you know.
Since I know that you are going to Calgary as well, check out this link for bridging programs: http://www.ccis-calgary.ab.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=129:electrician-program&catid=33:training-programs&Itemid=145. This one is for electricians but they have some for engineers as well in the same immigration center (I can't post that link since I have internet restrictions at work). It takes a lot of time (6 months) but it prepares you for the licencing exam and you have 2 months practice in the occupation which gives you al least some "canadian experience". The best thing is that it is for free.
The minus side is that it is full time course and you don't have time to get a job in the mean time.

From the date the Vissa is issued how much maximum time is allowed to stay out of the Canadian border?
For instance you get Canada Visa on 1.6.2015. Could I entre Canada on 1.7.2016 on the FSW application / PR grounds?

Across the Canada the process is pretty much the same.
But, if You are licensed for instance in Ontario, and you go to Alberta, in Alberta you need to undergo the same process you already passed in Ontario (Licensing is the province based - unfotunatelly there is no federal licence applicable in this case!)

my positive attitude got stuck somewhere in between vienna vo and my email inbox...hopefully i will get it back together with a long awaited email... i know it's on its way, but still.. it's not here and it's really frustrating!

Believe it or not, we've got 3rd line, finally.
It will, probably, take another 4-6 months to the next step, since our officer is sooooooooooo fast.........

and for everyone else who is thinking how to go about passport stamping (this is mainly a "problem" for people form serbia).. i had a cousin who lives in vienna to go personally to the canadian embassy and ask about this "issue".. they told him that one can send by courier passport to a person in vienna, along with a notarized authorization, and that person can bring passport to the embassy, have it stamped, pick it up the same day and send it back by courier. passports are to be submitted monday through thursday, from 8:30 to 10am, and pick up is the same day at 3 pm.
it is a great way for someone who doesn't want to/can't go personally, and make sure it gets back safely and most importantly very fast.

Why all the hassle? What's the point when person A can send passports directly to Visa office without the involvement of the person B (cousin in Vienna) ? The amount of money person A needs to pay to the courier service is the same, right?
