They will process already submitted applications in Prague, but new ones will go to Vienna from now on... :( I hope that means a higher yearly quota for Vienna from 2014, or backlog will further increase.

I doubt that there will be a big difference. Even before this closure, Vienna was the Visa Office for czech PR applications. Only TRV and work permits were processed in Prague. And since Czech citizens are now allowed to travel without a visa, the closure was a logical step.

I'm afraid with this step the only "approved by CIC" medical center in CZ will be excluded from the list and we will have to take Medical Check somewhere in Austria.

Not necessarily. CIC still has approved doctors in countries without Visa Offices, e.g. Germany. Even after the closure of the VO in Berlin, nothing changed regarding the list of approved doctors.

I found this Bulletin regarding the closure of Prague VO:

Permanent Resident (PR) and Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) Processing

As Prague did not process PR applications, its closure does not have an impact on PR processing. PR applications should continue to be submitted through normal channels.

New Economic Class applications should continue to first be submitted to the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada (CIO-S).

New Family Class applications should continue to first be submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (CPC-M).

New PRTD applications should be submitted to the VAC in Prague and will be processed in Vienna.

Vienna is active! i ve been silent on this thread till now. Glad it exists at all.
Friends of mine received MR today. when they contacted consultant he inform them about another couple of MRs in last few days. They are all from Serbia. 2012 is the year they applied for FSW. some february, others march.
Wanted to post just to keep thread and spirits high!

If possible, could you post their timelines, to get a better idea about what files Vienna is working on?

Stream (MI3, FSW1?)
date application was filed / intake at CIO
date of PER
date of MR
and - if possible - initials of Officer working on the file (should be on the MR e-mail)

That yould be great, much appreciated.

Maybe we should collect the data of all "Vienna victims" in economic classes.
What do we need for that?
- Stream (MI1/2/3..., FSW1/2)
- date of intake at CIO
- date of PER
- date of AOR (if aplicable)
- date of MR
- date of PR (or if exempt - na)
- Status of ECAS (outside and inside)

Any ideas?

My data looks like this:
BC2013 Stream CIO PER AOR MR PR ECAS Inside
MI3 FSW1 02-Dec-2011 21-Feb-2012 29-Mar-2011 0 na In Process (since Feb 2011) we received your app. on ..

Hi there friend.

Hope your process is fast and trouble free, Good luck with Vienna.
BTW ,if you are Greek then why do you deal with Vienna?
I am also Greek and in the family class sponsoring my wife. I usually drop by this thread to check out my FSW friends.

Welcome, and a hearty congrats to a very speedy process so far. From what I saw elsewhere on this forum, another PNP applicant took almost a year to get processed (from 2012 - 2013), so maybe they really have decreased the backlog and are able to get back to recently received files.

My guess would be, that you will not have to wait this long. When you have already received your MR in September, you might even get a "Decision Made" before the holidays.

Good luck, and keep us posted.
