I myself applied for passport in dec 12 and got in may 13, My worst experience,,,,, so, please dont take risk now atleast,

Seriously?? it took 6 months?? Damn! they must still be clearing cases of Jan/Feb/Mar by now :O

Guys,

I might be a little harsh here but I have to be. What makes you guys think that you can get you passports renewed now at this stage of you application process. You must be aware of all the stuff going on with passports applicants. Show some maturity and stop thinking of taking risks of getting your passports renewed (@ Adil). A number of applicants in the past had the same problem but they got their passports stamped, went to Canada and later got their PP renewed.

So its quite straightforward. Take our advice and submit your passport.

BSc (2004-08) in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from KIIT, India, GPA-7(out of 10 scale i.e. 70%)/
Job- Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS), Chennai, India as Systems Engineer for 3.4 Years (Sep, 2008- Dec, 2011)/

Msc( from feb,2012 and expected graduation date-feb 2014) in Communication Engineering at National Taipei University ,Taiwan ( Awarded Taiwan Ministry of Education Scholarship). Current CGPA-3.94 (out of 4 scale)./

I am really interested to build my career in Research Field i.e. in Wireless Communication. I want to apply for Phd(Electrical & Computer Engineering Stream) in Canada(Prefer MUN, CONCORDIA, VICTOTIA,REGINA) But right now I don't have publications in Journal or Conference. May be I will have my publication after Graduation means after Feb, 2014.

So I am really tensed. I need advice from you guys.....Shall I Apply for MaSc Instead of Phd? Still I didn't Contact with any Supervisor. Definitely I will try to get funding from professor. In this regard please evaluate my profile.

If I Apply for Masc then it will be my 2nd Masters. Will it create any Issue to get visa? There may be a question which visa officer may think ......
Why am I applying for Masters Again?

PHD requirement vary! I guess it's best you get in contact with the department advisor or the faculty. Your profile is pretty good but since most of us here are applying to Masters program we really dont know if having a publication would boost your options.

As far as the visa is concerned, nothing can be used as a rule of thumb.. decision depends upon the case and the supporting documents (SOP, LOA) etc

Most important part is this, they havent kept my old passport,nor they cancelled it, so i have 29 days to wait , i will wait for 20 to 25 days .
in sha Allah and hopefully by then it will be there to collect , or God forbid if it does not i will send them the old one.

i would like to mention here that i have some REASONABLE resources here in Karachi Passport Office and as well as in Nawabshah and Islamabad too , i already has passed them my Token No , they have said "Maximum 15 Days in sha Allah" and just dont worry.

I'll share my story, if its worth anything.

Having been out of PK, I was holding a non-computerized passport at the start of this year, which was to expire in early 2015. Before submitting my application to CHC Colombo, I emailed them and asked them about my case, they said I should get in renewed BEFORE applying.

I took time off work, bought a ticket and flew out to Pakistan. Keep in mind this was around Jan-Feb, so conditions were not too bad. My family has some connections, the medium levels ones and the super high level ones (which we don't use often). We used our medium connections, and I got my passport application accepted, and my bio data scanned. I was given a token number, however, during that process they stamped "A NEW PASSPORT HAS BEEN ISSUED" on my current passport, thereby rendering it useless.

My medium level connections promised me a passport in one week. And then I waited. And waited. I was living with relatives, which is never fun. Waiting is hard. One week passed, then two, then three. After four weeks, nothing had happened, and my family was unwilling to use the high-level connection. I don't mean to brag, but when I say high level, I mean really high level. Like the current govt. in power high level. My father was not comfertable calling people so high up in politics. In the end, I couldn't wait anymore, I called my uncle up. He asked me to email a scan copy of my token slip and a letter stating someone else could collect my passport on my behalf. 3 hours later I had my passport in hand.

I had to go through quiet a lot of crap, but I consider myself lucky that I was able to get one in the end. Meanwhile, my girl friend in Colombo, submitted her non-computerized passport (expiring in 2014) and already got her study permit issued before I returned. So what's the moral here? Some waiting/effort now will result in less effort later. But the passport is probably the least important aspect of the application.

p.s. Adil, even though you applied on your old passport, it should be ok if you send your old and new on together.

Some thing is a little hazy on my mind. "When exactly do they print, a new passport has been issued in lieu of this one". I have 3 total (twice renewed) with both having this print.

What i am afraid of is that this print was made, WHEN I APPLIED AT THE PASSPORT OFFICE i.e. not at the point of collection, since i don't remember taking old passport along when i needed to COLLECT the new one.

If this is the case with Adil, then unfortunately he is left with no other option than to wait for the new one and use that (the current one won't be useable after this stamp). Usually the stamp is either on the first page with bio data information OR at times it is in one of the visa pages as far as i remember.

So Adil, you should check your current passport for that first and foremost.

@ fkl , buddy ik ik page check kia hai, oper say neechay tak, ist page last page , sab kuch. there is no any stamp or anything like that, just meray signature k illawa 36 pages khali hain .

i was the ist one in that room with some1.... , and arround 9:25am i was done with everything , so might be they forgot to stamp it.

then lucky for you man! if it takes too long, just submit old passport. then travel with your old + new attached. once in Canada, extend your study permit.

u wake up in the morning , before u sleep , r u sure u r going to be awake in the morning , similarly , when u drives , does ur mind accept that you are controling that automobile , no , its just that belief in your mind , that God is protecting you , same goes with Almighty Allah is going to wake u up in the morning , same the case is with me , i have a strong belief that i will get a new passport and that too in time in sha Allah , thats y i submitted my application for the renewal ...

but one thing adil that u have a deadline to send pasport like a week or two it must be mention in the letter if u not send the letter to the embassy they might take it negatively in my view send ur previous passport as it will be fsvourable in ur situationif u get ur new passport have it
