Wouldn't it be a problem if we get our passport renewed now, we've already submitted the scanned copies of the older passport to the CIC,
My passport also expires on 2-April-2015 while my intended course lasts till August-2015..

I asked few people about this they said it's risky as you sent them a different copy of passport and details (Passport number, date of issue and expiry etc) when we submitted the application online and when they ask for the original one, it will be different from the one submitted.... wouldn't that be a complication? a sort of a discrepancy?

What do you guys suggest now??

Although it's early for me but I am done with medical, If Allah ki marzi hui toh I might also get a passport call and then I'll be having the same issue as Adil..

So it is wise to act before hand or just hand over my current passport when(if) asked for it?

You are normally not allowed to take anyone else with you because they wont let that person in during your medical, and there are also no provisions of any sort of sitting places for the visitors.................

There is a sitting place for parents in karachi..though it is outside the houseand not so good, but many parents sit outside...but it took me almost 3 hours in IOM to complete my med...there are applicants of australia, canada, U.K , newzealand etc.....so it takes a good amount of time....

Just talked to somebody who works at Karachi Passport office, he said that the passports on urgent basis are being processed in approx 1-2 months while also 20-25 days, there is no particular order.... the process is haphazard at the moment..
his exact workds "Urgent par bhi kisi ka 20-25 din mein ara hai aur kisi ka 2 months se phasa hua hai, kam se kam mahina toh kahi nahi gaya"

Yesterday 3 Candidates received their medical call as mentioned in spreadsheet.

All 3 belong to Masters Program and submitted case as Paper based.

I guess all 03 have got medical call in fastest time approx 13 0r 15 days when it comes to paper based submission.

Well done guys you all must be very lucky or your file was filled in comprehensive way.

i would say don take any risk right now ,
So, just get your visa and go canada and then renew your passport there and apply for the study permit extension, Why take risk now ?
I myself applied for passport in dec 12 and got in may 13, My worst experience,,,,, so, please dont take risk now atleast,
