Last week I was reading a news paper (Journal) here and the headline was about Immigrants and had a closer look on the contents. As per Jason Kenny (Citizenship and Immigration minister) Canada brings in 250,000 immigrants just under economic categories per annum. And now they cannot cope up with the labour shortage due to the growth of the elderly generation who retires from their work is way higher than the percentage of the younger crowd joining into the work force. Provincial governments suggested the government to increase the numbers from 250,000 to 400,000 and the decisions are underway to the commencement.
What I do not understand here is, there are hundreds and thousands of people from all over the world already here in Canada as workers. And many of them do have their applications to become PR as they have been qualified through different programmes within Canada. (Provincial Nominees, Canadian experience clas etc.) Those who are going through these programmes are having the same processing times in overseas visa offices. They could atleast consider to process the backlog of applications for these applicants without delays. Before they come in to Canada as a worker, they have aldreay gone through all these process for the first time and the security checks also been conducted. Once the PR application sends in, they need not to do this all over again. If they have worked in Canada for the past years and if they have convicted for a crime, that should be within Canada as well. So the RCMP should have the records of it. There is no requirement to go through the history of the applicant since the age of 18 and the previous visits of other countries and stays to finalize the application. First time applicants from other countries may go through all of this as they never been in Canada. When there are ways to get the immigrants into the country and fulfil their needs, they are not considering any changes to expedite the process. Workers are living in Canada, already settled without public funds, having a fixed income, paying tax to the government and so on and on.. but treated in the same way when it comes to Immigration.. :(

Good eloboration pal.yes the tue applicant hit hard.I cant imagine how some got throuh.I have read one canadian reserch artical comparing SL immigrant Post and pre 80s when i found i will share the link.( one person in other forum stated Canada needs educated labours ???). i cant understande what this queue is.When you are in a queue and when your time comes servise provider never tell you ,your case is complex and go back and join the last until we compleate the easiests. There should be a way to clear the bottleneck. But because of the large pool they can cover the target. As you explained although Sec/Cre checked so compleately it is the highest concern of US that Canada Boader is one of the easiat way of entring unwanted :-X people to US.They will do their best to go through and they can make a new man from birth.(IELTS Scandle in India) :-X

Hi STTN,
Just to clarify some things as u are in Canada at the moment,
*what is the best time to migrate to Canada?
* Is it easy to find a part time job in Ontario region?
* What about the cost of housing (lease/ rent) in Ontario?
Apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Regards,
Dilu. :D

Yes I am in Canada about 4 years. My personal opinion for the best time to arrive in Canada depend on the province of your choice. As you said if you decide to land and live in the east coast (Ontario) or in the west coast (British Columbia) even the winter is not that harsh comparing to the provinces in the middle of the country like Alberta. If you do not have any winter experience before it is always recommened to arrive here during summer time (May June July August would be the best) So you will be able to get settled slowly and weather won't bother you much as you have time to get your self adjusted gradually for the temperature drop. However you will have to plan your arrival depend on the time you get your PR approved. Finding a job for the first time in Toronto area may be challenging for the first time depend on what you do and what you are expecting to do. One reason I see is that most immigrants choose and land to live in Ontario. So the job market is pretty competitive there. However sooner or later you will be able to find what you need. All depend on your luck. Living cost is bit higher in Ontario comparing to some other provinces in Canada as well. You can expect to pay for 900CAD$ - 1500$ to an apartment as Goodhope mentioned too. Mostly heat and water is included to the rent and you will be looking at paying for your electricity cable, internet etc.
