hi guys, can I re send my application tomorrow? is it too late? what do you suggest?
Sorry to hear that. You still have good chance to be in the cap. Send your completed application tomorrow or today with the fastest delivery system. You can use courier or use the PO Box but if you use PO Box you can ask Canada Post to use the Overnight system (It costs you around $40 to $50 but it will be delivered in two business days).

Good luck and don't worry.

A question for you guys.

For 5 points of adaptability, I need to prove that I completed two years of study in a post-secondary degree in an Canadian institution (that is at least two years in duration) with good academic standing. On the instruction guide, full-time study means at least 15 hours of instruction per week. How do I prove that (1) the program was of at least two years in duration, (2) I was in good academic standing, and (3) 15 hours of instruction? Is my transcript itself be sufficient? My transcripts showed that I have completed the program in four years. However, there is not much instruction hours during my study, as I did not take much courses.

Thank you!
1) PhD program in Canada takes at least two years. It is obvious without having any proof about that. Besides, in attestation letter it is clearly mentioned that you have finished at least two years of PhD study towards its completion. (2) Good academic standing is determined by your institution ( most of the time is when your GPA is A- or above) and again this sentence is mentioned in the attestation letter (3) for this issue, some students are asking their institution to provide an additional letter with "full time" word in it. However, I know some applicants without providing this letter got the adaptability point. The reason for that is because of the fact that without being full-time student you are unable to work on campus (RA/TA). When you have RA/TA every semester, it means that you have been registered full time. Regarding 15 hours, it is not applicable to most of the PhD applicants as this program is research based. If you look at instruction guide OP 6(c) based on which applicants are assessed, you will see that 15 hours has not been mentioned in that guideline. It is only mentioned in one part of the website. In addition, If you go and search the definition of full-time study status in CIC, you will see that in another section of this website, it says that full-time study status is determined by the institution.

Dear all,

I also have a question about the Proof of Education.

If I have a Canadian Master Degree and a Foreign B.Sc Degree, then do I also need to submit <<the ECA report+copy of B.Sc diploma+original transcript>> for the Foreign B.Sc Degree????

Please read the last para-

Proof of Education

To receive points for your education, you must provide proof that you have completed a Canadian secondary or
post-secondary educational program OR submit an original ECA report along with proof of the foreign educational
credential(s) for which you are claiming points.

Proof of your completed Canadian or foreign educational credential(s) can include copies of your:
• secondary or post-secondary education documents (certificates, diplomas or degrees), and
• transcripts for successfully completed secondary or post-secondary studies, if available.

You do not need to send transcripts. You however need to send copies of your certificates and diplomas. If however you have copies of your transcripts with you, then include them. More is always better. If you come from a country like Nigeria, it is almost impossible to have copies of your transcripts as universities there do not give individuals their transcripts. Send it back tomorrow if you can. Why wouldn't you?
Well I am happy you used "almost impossible" because I have my transcript even the scanned copy of my transcript.

Thanks, Viva and Dark Diamond.

Btw, if the application was rejected, does CIC send out an email to the applicants or they will just simply mail the application back to the applicant ?

Some FSW application from Sept 24th 2014 has been cashed out....................so freaking nervous.

As I know, they only return the documents with a letter inside explaining the reason.

Yes that is true for CEC, probably I was reading the point under CEC. However, I did not see CEC marked on the section I read. I tried to find the link with their guidelines for the new Points, which contained the job experience claase, and couldn't no longer find it on the website.

Truly if things stand as they are I think there is continuity for us in the system to apply, depending on how they rank candidates.

Thank you very much for clarification.

Hi ojohn22, to my knowledge, your statement "job experience acquired concurrently with full time study is invalid" is only true for CEC class. But have you also found that sort of statement for the new PhD category (sub-category under FSW class)? Check links for express entry: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/express/express-entry.asp

I am yet to find that true for PhD stream but I might be wrong. If you find some condition like that mentioned in any CIC link or pdf, then post the link in this forum and it will clarify this issue for future applicants. I am also asking other forum members to do this who are doing research on Express Entry right now. Thanks.

Actually, I found it: To understand it properly you will do the following:

http://www.gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2014/2014-12-01-x10/html/extra10-eng.php

I think Section 9d

Core human capital factors

9. The core human capital factors referred to in paragraph 8(1)(a) are the following:

(a) age;
(b) level of education;
(c) official language proficiency; and
(d) Canadian work experience.

is linked with Section 15 (7).

(7) For the purposes of this section,

(a) a period of employment during which the foreign national was engaged in full-time study is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;
(b) a period of self-employment or unauthorized work is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;

And of course it only affects applicants claiming Canadian work experience.

Let me know what you think.

I received my latest ATIP information today. Not much changed. Criminality is still in progress (I wonder if that remains the same till the end?), but eligibility has changed from "not started" to "in progress". It is amazing how fast they work. The due date for eligibility was in May and there are some updates in October, and still going on. Lets see which comes first, PPR or my first grandchild! ;D
