hello everyone

greetings from Karachi.

I m new to apply under phd stream in Canada. please help me, advice me and give ur best opinion to guide me. also correct me wherever I m wrong. I m thanking you all in advance and appreciate your efforts. I also don't know if I m searching/posting in right forum and thread or not.

I m planning to enroll in Memorial University of Newfoundland & Labrador due to extremely affordable cost of education. I am married, wife is practicing MBBS doctor, one kid of 2 years of age. I m not a rich person so low budget/cost is my first preference. please answer my following questions.

q1. are there any other alternative affordable options than Memorial University to do PHD?

q2. beside affordable education, what is or will be the quality of education from Memorial University? is it among good universities in Canada?

q3. do graduates of Memorial University get jobs or do they have to try really harder in comparison to other university graduates?

q4. considering my family will come with me, is it possible to bring my family with me?

q5. what is cost of living in Newfoundland as compare to other provinces for an international student with family of 2? is it among low cost provinces?

q6. some people on internet have written that Newfoundland is among one of the most poorest places of Canada, life is useless there, most stupid and idiot people use to live there, less cultured and unfriendly place. bad place for new comers and a no go place for students.......considering every place has its cons and pros.........but is it true? Newfoundland is such a bad place in Canada?

thanks again.

regards.

Hi,

Did you receive a document request from CIO office (sydney) or CPP-O (Ottawa)?

Thanks Parkinson and mrk.

I received my doc. request from CPP Ottawa.

Received a copy of my GCMS notes. My file hasn't been touched as of the 15th of July. Due dates remain the same. Application has been assigned to FA with a due date of 27th August. They have to finalize eligibility by November 1s -exactly a year after PER. They have clearly documented the receipt of all updated reference letters which is nice...

Just a quick question. Those of you who live in Ontario and who mailed the passport(s) to CPP-Ottawa, did you use National Xpresspost envelopes (as passport request email says) or regional ones? My address is in Ontario, so I thought regional should be fine, but I decided to double-check with you.

Just received my passport back with visa and copr. Finally, long journey ended. Please update my status in the spreadsheet. Good luck to those who are still waing.

Hi

use the regional ones :D
Congrats and wish you all best of luck

Hmm. So application assignment due date hasn't change right? It sounds like nothing new in this one, am i right? How abt the RCMP screening? or Criminality or Security? According to my last GCMS they did the last update on 9th of August, I think they will also update ur file very soon and will stretch the due date for sure, sorry to say that but at least this is my understanding from my case. May be it could be different.

Got my next CAIPS, the only change is the assignment due date, it used to be 2013/6/2 and now it is 2013/10/1

Could you guys plz help me on how to request the GCMS note with my spouse consent so that I can also see her detail.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks

Same as mine, although I am June applicant. Hope at least this long painful wait will be worthy.
I used to say my wife some time, we have to keep ourself strong enough so that when bad time will end then we can enjoy it but now i m saying that to me every day...:)

I think kg.jadu is just tired of waiting such long :). He is another helpful information archive for us. Very happy to see his end. Good luck man....

I did my landing this morning. Everything went smoothly and no question at all at the border. I also changed my SIN # and extended my OHIP card.

I will check the forum whenever I got chance and I really appreciate your help. This forum is just awesome. :)

Thank you kazi! It's been a long waiting time, one rejection, and one near-rejection. It feels like I've been wandering on a minefield for the past year and a half, and I'm glad to be near the end of this process. Good luck to you too. Wishing you to get your medical and passport requests soon!
