For the financial proof, do I have to show the bank statement or your proof of funding from your supervisor/ pay slips of yours and spouse will work? I am a newbie and am trying to complete the paper works.
You must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family after you get the PR.
The amount of money you need to support a family of 2 is 13,837 CAD, so you have to send them a letter from your bank that shows you have this amount of money, or you can send them a bank statement for the last 6 months as they'll ask you to send it latter.

Haven't seen this case in this forum at least.
I've heard cases where people got rejected due to work experience issues after medical, but that's for CEC.

Based on the limited info that I could gather from this forum (PhD stream), or from my own GCMS notes, medical is usually requested (automatically by GCMS, which is why you don't see an officer's code name at the signature) after eligibility is passed and also after RCMP screening is done.

Several people received medical request after they passed eligibility, and in some cases (dj2009, Shomo), they got medical LONG after passing eligibility due to RCMP screening issues.

It is only after eligibility that admissibilities (which constitute medical, security and criminality) screening is started. That's why sometimes you see requests for PCC after medical, because PCC is part of criminality screening.

For the security, as I can see from my GCMS notes Application Section, the security value is changed from not started to in progress in December 2012. This is updated by GB01592. So, I guess they start the security screening before the eligibility assessment.

Is it so? in my case criminality has been in progress while eligibility is yet to start despite SL...... evaluating my file. For people like Salam, security and criminality checks have been initiated simultaneously. I have also come across other threads where people passed criminality before eligibility. As for criminality, I guess they proceed to finalizing admissibility based on what comes back during the initial screening. For example finger prints might be required but an official request would never come until after eligibility is met.

For mine, they changed from "not started" to blank, but I think you're right.

The last thing they did on my file was medical screening, and security screening seems to be concluded the same time as RCMP screening (again, based on my GCMS notes), which was even before they concluded eligibility. What they did after eligibility was medical and criminality.

Maybe security checks for us that are already in Canada is much faster. I heard it may take months or even years for some people to get their security checks concluded.

That's interesting. Maybe they mixed up the order a bit? I got my RCMP screening concluded on Feb 26, which was also the day they passed my selection factor, and requested POF and PCC.

Now that you mentioned it, I remember TyrusX getting 'No Reportable Trace' for his RCMP screening way before eligibility. My criminality was concluded on March 28, after they decided that there was 'No Adverse Info' found on my Indonesian and American police certificates. There was never any information about security, as everything seemed to be blanked out.

It seems to me that you have less than one year of continuous full time or equivalent part time work experience. Further, you mention that the hours were accumulated as a part of a TA ship. Was this continuous or cumulative? . As in lets say you TAed during the Fall 2011, Winter 2012 but did not during the summer session but followed up in the fall session. This would not count as continuous employment.
Thanks S_Govind for your comment. My TA work experience is cumulative and you are right I wont probably get any point for this. I also have one year continuous work experience from back home as Research Assistant. I assisted the senior researchers at a research institution with data analysis, literature review, assist with publication and so on. The problem with my back home work experience is that I cannot find any NOC code under which my main duties could fall. Some of my duties fit NOC code 4012 but the requirement of this 4012 is that you have to be at the University or Collage and I think it has to include both teaching assistantship aspect as well as aspects of research assistantship. Do you guys have any suggestions in terms of which NOC code my back home work experience might fit?

How can I forget them? Congrats, guys :) And for Mohazy, you got your PR in 11 months, that was almost a record :) I think several 2011 applicants got their PR's in less than a year, but after the long Buffalo-Ottawa transfer hiatus last year, the majority of early 2012 applicants got delayed by several months. Hopefully the pace will be picking up again soon :)

I think what matters is matching the lead statement and also a substantial number of main duties. This is pursuant to R80(3), which states that

(3) (f)or the purposes of subsection (1), a skilled worker is considered to have experience in an occupation, regardless of whether they meet the employment requirements of the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification, if they performed

(a) the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification; and

(b) at least a substantial number of the main duties of the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification, including all the essential duties.

http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/FullText.html
Also, while at least one year of work experience (of 1,560 hours) within the last 10 years would need to be continuous, all of other work experience would accumulative. So as long as there is a continuous chunk of 1,560 hours within the last 10 years (counting only up to 30 hours per week), then all of the other work experience would be accumulative.

For example, if you have 18 months of continuous work experience, then 7 months elsewhere, then the total work experience you will have would be 25 months. Please correct me if my interpretation is wrong :)

EDIT: there is an explanation for this on OP6B:

Periods of work of less than 12 months during the 10 years immediately preceding the date of the application may be added together and divided by 12 to calculate the number of years
But no such explanation exists on OP6C. There is no difference in the way work experience should be calculated for the new FSWP (I compared IRPR subsection 80 and the only difference between the old and the new versions was just the total number of hours per week that define 'full-time'), so I do not expect this would have changed after May 4.

Hi all,

I should thank all members of this useful forum for their kind and generous contribution. I am facing an issue with my reference letter and am seeking your advice. Recently, I have sent an updated reference letter to Ottawa from my previous employer with more details according to NOC 2011. Now there is one thing that is worrying me. In the first letter that I submitted with my application, the working hours is stated as 40 hours/week and in the new one it is 44 hours/week by mistake. I didn't notice it when I sent the letter. Do you think this is a major issue? It is a hassle for me to get another one from my employer. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to deal with this.

Many thanks
Amir

As far as calculating the number of hours is concerned, it will not matter. Any work experience in excess of 30 hours per week (or 37.5 hours per week under the old rule) would be truncated down, so it won't add or subtract from the total number of years for your work experience. You won't magically have 2,288 hours for the year you're working 44 hours per week. It would still be 1,560 hours.

However, I think you should still notify them about this mistake. Send an email to Ottawa (I know, they will take forever to reply) at least to clarify, or contact your local MP to get faster response. Better, also have your employer write a letter explaining the mistake if possible. To be honest though, I really don't think it's such a big deal, but better be safe :)
