Congratulatioooooooooons!

And thanks for initiating this post. Even after you finish, the later applicants will benefit from this post for very long time.

BTW, TyrusX, why not update IMM-Applicant's status. :D Another graduated guy.

Congrats to snow_walker too :) !

Anyway, IMM-Applicant, if you don't mind sharing the rest of your information with us, that would be much appreciated (and we will add your info to the spreadsheet as well if you'd like) :)

Hi, are you getting paid non-taxable RA? Most of us here actually have our research assistant funding in the form of non-taxable studentship, so HR won't be able to provide you with the letter. You have to talk to your supervisor.

I think you should definitely try to get your South Korean RA experience as well (provided you got paid or some form of funding). As long as you can provide all information they are requesting (and make sure that ALL information a per the checklist is there in the letter; do NOT miss anything), then they should have no reason but to credit you the experience. Make sure that your descriptions match NOC 4012 (look it up). Several applicants have their applications rejected (even after PER) due to mismatch in job descriptions, so better be prepared than be sorry later.

Regarding TA, what some of us did here was ask from our departments for similar letters. Since TA funding is usually taxable (meaning in the form of salary rather than lump-sum), HR can probably provide you with a letter as well, though this letter is most likely lacking job descriptions and total hours. So get HR letter, and also a letter from your department for TA, and make sure that these letters have everything as per the guideline on the checklist (and contain NO contradictory information). Good luck and let us know how it all goes :)

They updated the processing times, and it's on average 8 months for CPP-Ottawa. Should we all (at least those who got their PER back on March or before) now try to inquiry?

Nah. It will take them many weeks for them to reply. Order CAIPS/GCMS, they are forced to answer in 30 days. It's 8 months after the documents were received and opened by them i guess. Let's say our documents moved there in June 1st(06) and we are almost in December 1st, thus, almost 6 months have passed already. Yet we have seen no movement at all for 2012 applicants!! We can only assume that 8 months doesn't apply to us right now or it is purposely wrong. It's been +9 months after PER for many Jan applicants already, without further communication :(

Hi Guys (and TyrusX)

It is strange... I have a personal website which I placed google analytics code to track visitors and when I was just checking it today, I noticed that there was visitor from Ottawa, Ontario on Nov 18th dropping by. Drilled down further and found out that the person who visited my site was from the following domain "dfait-maeci.gc.ca" which turns out to be the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Apparently someone from inside that Ministry googled me up. I was wondering if this could be part of the CIC process in vetting us out for the PhD Stream PR application?

Cheers

I would say it was a coincidence.

Can anyone please give me the number of Sydney office??

Hello,

Under the PhD stream:

1- Does the time of submitting an application matter?
2- Is there any preference between the English exams recognized by CIC?

Thanks

In the case of Chinese Police Certificate, notarization is considered as Official and Original. You don't need the photocopy. I am sure of this.

That was the purpose of notorization. The meaning and the procedure behind that is: the police office issued their letter to the notary office, and authorize the notary office to issue the non-criminal notarization. Therefore, through notarization, you do not need the police certificate any more. The notarization letter becomes your original document. Forget the origianl or photocopy of police certificate any more.

BTW, in some of the Chinese Police Office, the standard letter starts with " To XXX Notarial Office...".
That indicate you have to go through notarization.

Actually for our case, my wife only provided that piece of 'bad-looking' paper from police station (and translation), because it did not start with " To XXX Notarial Office...".

And it worked for previous visit visa and work permit application. I think it will work for this time, because the same guys are dealing with the same documents again.

Thank you for this reply. That's a relief :)
