When you guys check the status online, do you provide the UCI number like something "1111-1111"?
Is the middle hyphen "-" sign necessary?
Thanks.
Can you post you letter and the e-mail which cic used to send here in the forum?JBR said:I got an email confirmation from CIC that they have received my application. However my ecas status is still not showing anything.
You should request another letter from your graduate studies or registrars office stating "good standing" and "2 years toward PhD". It's a very important requirement:wpower said:Does everybody got a letter from the Graduate school clearly stating "in good academic standing"? I haven't seen such words from the document I got from my Grad school. What I got are just 6 letters that show my enrollment in PhD program, one letter each year that I have been enrolled.
Does that mean I have to go to request another one and ask them state exactly "in good academic standing"?
I CAN'T be from school/department. Has to be from graduate studies or registrars office (as per the document checklist.)phdapplicant said:You should request another letter from your school stating "good standing" and "2 years toward PhD". It's a very important requirement:
Quoted from the Checklist (IMM5612E):
"The letter must state the following information about the applicant:
• is currently enrolled in a PhD program and has completed at least two years towards its completion; and
• is deemed in good academic standing to the satisfaction of the institution."
Thanks for the clarification, bro. I was thinking of "university" (instead of "school") when I post .snow_walker said:I CAN'T be from school/department. Has to be from graduate studies or registrars office (as per the document checklist.)
Good idea.... the problem is, I can't edit the first post... I guess it happens for old posts... I can edit my last 5/10 posts but can't edit that far back..... don't know what can be done now... There is no requirement that you have been doing you PhD on a continuous period of time, only that you are in your starting or beyond your third year. The only continuous requirement is the one year of work experience needed. They will probably notice that you have been enrolled since 2009 and thus you should have no problems if you got everything else alright. I believe that they are competent enough to notice when things are not completely explicitly stated but are obviously there. Other people had problems because their letters didn't state they were doing well in their programs, which is something that goes beyond your transcripts because a PhD is not a course based degree which rely only on grades.asbereth said:Hi all, I sent my application alongside all of the supporting documents, which were received by CIO (Krszwda) yesterday (Feb 16). Reading some of the comments here made me worried that my application, too, would be returned since on my letter of attestation, there was no direct mention that I have completed two years of my PhD program. The letter did state, though, that I had been enrolled as a full-time student on a continuous basis since Fall 09 term, and is currently registered as a full-time student for this term towards a completion of PhD degree. It also stated that I am currently in good academic standing (I had to specifically tell them to put it on the letter).
What I'm worried about the most is the fact that, it has to be two years towards the completion of my PhD program (which I have fulfilled), and my letter could totally be interpreted as though I had only been recently admitted to the PhD program, and had been enrolled since Fall 09 doing some other degree or something. Of course, if they evaluate my transcript, and also letters from my department, it would be clear that I have been enrolled in PhD program since Fall 09, but judging from some of the returned cases I've been reading here, it does look like that they wouldn't even bother looking at other documents if there was no direct mention on the letter of attestation. Hopefully if they do return my application, I could still make it before the quota is reached
Anyway, good luck to all who have applied, and let us all hope for the best.
