I told TyrusX once that, if I got my PR, then I would try to hang around the forum for as long as I can :) On the reverse, I also told him that, if my application got rejected (this was back in January when a lot of January 2012 applicants got rejected due to job description issues), then I would just disappear without a trace. To this date, I'm still feeling really grateful that I did not have yet to disappear without a trace :)
Thankfully ur application got success :). I wish I could share the experience in the same way for the forum as u r doing now (without any stress/worries). I personally appreciate all of your help and suggestion. Interestingly I was also thinking to leave the forum without any trace if I get any bad news :(

You sent your updated letter of reference, right? You'll be stuck with us here then, bro, I promise :) Just try your best not to do anything stupid (such as committing crimes) that may make you fail admissibilities :p

hahaha, I am not well enough to do any crime ;). I think the stress I took for this Immigration application if I would put the 1/3 of that effort for something mischief I would become a GodFather of Underworld ;))

Hi Snow walker and everyone,

I have read all posts on Quebec student situations (intention to leave etc..) and I dont know much french and I am working on it. My question to you is would it be possible to apply in parallel both for FSW Phd strem and CSQ? I mean I might become ready for French test in months but to use this time and to have a back up in case I dont get my CSQ, I am thinking of applying for FSW category too. Now would it be a problem? I mean say after I apply for FSW I also get my CSQ, then what? should I cancel my PR request and apply again based on my CSQ? wouldn't that be a bad record in my record history? of course my FSW application in that case would be very likely rejected as I have shown strong interest in living and working in Quebec with my CSQ document!!

The latest Cap update...

What do you think, guys?
Quite interesting but on expected lines. Most applicants without a Canadian educational credential need an ECA assessment and as such would be awaiting one. What makes the wait all the more painful is that the transcripts have to be sent directly to WES by the University. Some of them are quick to react while some others take their own sweet time to do so (Bureaucracy at its peak). They haven't updated the cap on the PhD stream as yet or am I missing something?

Update regarding reference letters:-

Hey guys, I received my very depressing GCMS notes yesterday. Apparently eligibility was run 2 weeks after the doc request and whoever assessed recommended that the reference letters have the lead statement but significant number of duties mentioned in the NOC seems not to be performed. I just updated the reference letters yesterday and am gonna bullet form them today and send again.

Interesting thing was mention of order for GCMS notes date and also date by date receiving of document that I had sent such as post doc offer etc. There was a lag of up to 9 days sometimes for the notes to appear after the documents were sent by email. So dont delay, and update asap as if the file is opened by the officer and the file was not updated by then, you are at loss. I think it happened to one of the members on this form too.Try sending both email and mail as both have been acknowledged.

The 5 adaptability given by CIO were not given by CPP.

I would recommend ordering GCMS every month to see what prenotes are being put and rectify them timely. I my case the note says "appears to have not met 75(2). Then there are tons of documents reaching them. It is sitting now to be assessed by FA I guess.

Fingers crossed. Sending a bunch load of documents today too.

I think I will take asbereth's proposed route if I am rejected-- "no reportable trace found"

Dude apply for both, if you get CSQ, drop your FSW application as post CSQ it is guranteed provided you dont have probelms with criminality and medicals. Also depends which year PhD you are in. If just finished 2 nd year then chances are that you might get same response as other Quebec applicants.

There is a member here who had CEC and FSW running concurrently and got his PPR as the applications I think were merged. Plz go a few pages back.

There is no clear answer to it and see your timeframes and how much you can afford.

beh and kg.jadu were initially assessed by this officer. I guess eligibility on my file should also have been run by now considering we have about the same timelines. What is the due date for your eligibility? and when did you order your notes?. I am guessing I would have flunked the initial review too.
Maybe this explains why Mohazy got his medical request well ahead the rest of us. Maybe he passed eligibility...

I don't know what happens over there. I had the eligibility date punched as 8th May, 2013. I ordered the current set of GCMS notes on 24/05/2013. after eligibility, they had tons of communications as in document updates etc. I think you are right, maybe as soon as they get the requested documents, they run eligibility, if passed its faster, else they transfer to FA.

Don't know am confused.

Will see. Fingers crossed.

So, is it the first time you are updating your reference letter? I am bit surprised since I found u are a very active member in the forum then what made u not to update the reference letter so far? Sorry may be I am wrong, the reason I am asking if you have already send any updated letter then why they still missing the main duties or lead statement in the letter, could you please share ur previous letter or the one u have sent now, may be we could better suggest or could get some help.

I think he thought that he had time until August to update since it takes almost a year for them to assess our files against the selection factor. What we all missed is that they run a pre-eligibility check after getting whatever documents they would like to. My bet is that the selection factor is done by two officers-initially one gives his/her recommendations and then the other either accepts or overrides it (in the case of nevergiveup, kg.jadu etc). This again depends on any new evidence like letters that we choose to give.

Stuck at Quebec: From what I see on your notes, I think the adaptability points may be crucial for you to pass even if they accept your letters of reference. If you could convince them to give you 5 points for your education (masters equivalent) that could balance out not having the adaptability points. Am I correct?

I think that is very reasonable speculation and thanks for thinking in such depth. When I have received my GCMS (May 21st) I found they gave me 9 adaptibility points (for my canadian masters and spouse education), gave 19 points from experience (Total = 73, I am not sure which office awarded these points, may be in their first first pre-eligibility check) although in note section (office name given CIO) it was said PA had equivalent to one year or more work experience but the reference letter has not verified.

Guys I received my visa. It was pretty fast! I sent my passport on June 6 and I have it today (June 21). Thank you for the info you shared. This was a great forum.
I am going to land on border since it is faster, do I need to take anything with myself? I already know about proof of fund. Is there a special thing they will ask me there?
