The thing is, I think this only shows that last year's cap had been filled at the date of application (sometimes in September), which, I'm assuming, would make sense. We would need to hear from those who apply between November 1 and the end of the year to be completely sure whether the stream has been put on hold until next year.

Yes. He doesn't state anything other than the 2011-12 Cap was filled. We knew that around mid September it should be around 980 applications.

Hello guys,

I applied under the FSWP as a PhD student in September 2012. Yesterday, December 3 I received my returned application in the mail with an explanation letter saying that the cap has been filled therefore I am not eligible to apply under FSW for 2011.

Now my question to you guys is that did anyone receive the same letter of rejection for their application? If yes, then can you please share your experience and your actions after you received the letter?

I haven't applied yet, but started collecting my documents. The country for my PC is notoriously corrupt and it would take centuries to get it at the first place. In the past it took me 3 months to get it which delayed my application to Canadian visa that how I ended up a semester late for my program. Anyways, this issue aside, so I can start the process. But the message regarding reached cap is discouraging.

You were saying that you were about to finish your PhD? If that is true, you probably stand a better chance of getting your landed status outside of this stream, once you get a job.

Hi everyone,

I have landed this Sunday and with that my immigration journey came to an end. It was really a pleasant experience to be a part of this forum. When I started this forum about 14 months ago, I never thought I will be so helpful and active! But after 3635 posts and 229098 views of this thread, I think it served very well for many people and I hope it will continue to do so. I will be following this forum time to time to be updated about everyone's progress. Hope the path will be easier for everyone.

P.S: I strongly believe that the cap has been reset and there is NO hold on the PhD stream. Certainly there would be a press release if it was on hold. I don't see there is anything to worry about. Why are we even thinking that there is a pause/hold on this stream???!!!

I inquired them about 2 weeks ago. They haven't received anything. Dani1982 had to reapply due to not getting the 5 points of adaptability.
I don't believe we are going to get any medicals before February anymore. Too many people that applied 2 years before us in the queue..

I re-applied around 23rd of October. I have to expect thesame response then?

if you applied after Nov 1st then yes. Hope yours was not open before that, as I believe it wasn't.

If I get mine returned I will just resend it so it qualifies for 2012-2013 cycle. I believe a pause on a program is normally announced, hence we can safely assume that the PhD stream is still in force for the current year even though some applications did not get included in the 2011 cycle as the cap was reached.

In that case, I think we have to wait till we see what happened to those who applied after Nov 1.
