Hello House,

Have a couple of questions to ask:

A) When one is travelling to canada and would have a stopover in London(overnight layover) does one require a transit visa as i have read something on UK Website that says

You might be eligible for ‘transit without visa’ if:

you arrive and depart by air
have a confirmed onward flight that leaves on the day you arrive or before midnight on the day after you arrive
have the right documents for your destination (eg a visa for that country)
One of the following must also apply:

you’re travelling to (or on part of a reasonable journey to) Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and have a valid visa for that country
you’re travelling from (or on part of a reasonable journey from) Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and have a valid visa for that country
you’re travelling from (or on part of a reasonable journey from) Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and it’s less than 6 months since you last entered that country with a valid entry visa
you have a residence permit issued by Australia or New Zealand
you have a common format residence permit issued by an European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland
you have a residence permit issued by Canada issued after 28 June 2002

B) And if one does need it what is the length of time you need apply for it before your trip since it has a validity period of 48hours?

Kindly note the overnight layover is 16 hours so one would require going to town?

Congratulations @gracemill, please what was the timeline between your passport submission and visa issue?

In regards to your transit visa question, I believe that you will require a transit visa if you plan on leaving the airport. If you however only plan to change flights within a certain terminal you may not require a transit visa... Hope this helps

If I guess right, you will land at heathrow and depart from Gatwick to Toronto....then you need a transit visa..

otherwise, if you are connectin thru heathrow as well, then you don't need a transit except you just want to get a glimpse of London.

Hi House,

In case anyone will need accommodation in Calgary (Alberta) and wants a referral , I am happy to give one. Please PM me. The apartments are around downtown (17 Ave SW and 2 Ave NE ), Adult only building. 1 year lease ( 2 months penalty if you terminate early), 1 month's rent deposit.

Hi, please I have a couple of questions to ask.

I submitted my e-application on august 2 and today, I got a request for my spouse and I to refill sections 8 and 12 of schedule A form. My questions are:

1. Do we fill only the sections required or the whole form?

2. In filling address history, does one have to fill addresses of countries one visited for around one to three months?

3. In filling addresses, is it possible to have two addresses covering the same period, for example when one was in the university?

4. In filling Personal History section, how does one account for short trips taken while one is employed or still schooling?

Thank you very much.

My brother from another mother,

At Calgary airport as I type.

Landed yesterday at Montreal, immigration clearance was done in 15 mins (landed around 9pm Montreal time).
Spent the night there (with some old folks at a hotel)
Headed to Calgary today.

No issue of FSW landing in Quebec, no onward journey questions or hotel reservation question, just smooth and lovely landing.
