I got refused on March 9th, got the letter from my immigration councilor March 23. He requested the notes to appeal the case but I dont know how long that takes to get the notes then send the information back to the embassy for processing. I need to start school May 14.
What do I do?

Reasons for refusal:
Purpose of visit
Financial status and assets
Family times in home country and in Canada

I submitted supporting documents for all of the above so I'm uncertain why I was rejected for those reasons.

Please help.
How long does it take to get the notes back?
How long does it take to get a response once I send the info back?
Is it likely all this could be sorted in time for school?

Assuming he requested GCSM notes - they take around 30 days to arrive. Appeals take time. It's not going to be done in time for you to start school in May.

If you want to have a chance of starting school in May - reapply rather than appealing.

BTW - if your immigration councilor was the one who suggested you appeal, I would ditch him/her. That's bad advice and just sounds like a money grab.

Thanks @scylla I'm currently gathering documents to reapply. I ditched the councillor.

what did your representative mean by appeal? If by that he/she meant appeal in court than that does not make sense as it is more lengthy and strife ridden approach (also prohibitively expensive).
depending upon the country/context/individual, appeal may also mean reapply after knowing full facts (GCMS notes).
do make sure you get access to notes before reapplying as the reasons in refusal letter are not specific and do not tell you much.
also, do check the application processing times before you reapply as it is already April.
