another dry day..what's the difference between 'express entry' and conventional old method of applying??? we have to wait at least 2-3 months for the ITA and then approx a month ot submit all the docs and then wait for 6 months..its almost 1 year of processing time in all..how is it better than old method?

Same AOR as yours, called them , they said my application is in progress and everything is ok so far. Nothing more

Ahaha. I call them almost every week It is the standard answer from them

I think the point of the new system was , so that it becomes easy for cic, they have to process a lot less number of applications

Yes. On surface, that's the reason. But, there are so many different things that happen behind the scenes, political, geographical situations which impact the processing.

I got my ITA in 10 days. I was waiting for one final paper, otherwise I would've applied a week or so after that. Realistically, I could've had my PR by now.

One of my colleagues got his PR in 3 months, from the day he received his ITA.
The other, who went through the old system, is still waiting to get his and says that with their processing times he wont see it for another 8 - 10 months for sure. That's NOT counting all the time he has already been waiting.

Express Entry is definitely faster. And when you take into account everything that goes into it, realistically 6 months is a great timeline to receive the gift of a brighter future.

Well said. If only they had better way of providing the status to the applicants..

I think if they just update the eligibility on-time, there would be less stress for the applicant.
I mean we all see eligibility in review until the last second. That is why the wait is brutal.

So many back ground checks have gone into progress there is going to be a big big ppr rain soon.
Only time will tell...could be tomorrow or this week or in 2 weeks. For sure before end of the month...

By the end of this week many of us will cross two to three weeks of BG in progress, so I guess the thunderstorm would be this Friday or the beginning of next week.

May I know how did you receive the request to submit passports.

Did you receive it your personal e-mail or was a message populated in your MyCIC account?

It was the usual means. I received email notification that there is a new message in my MyCIC account. After login to MyCIC under my application there was the link to the pdf letter.
