Also, once you have landed in canada, do we have to stay there for 3 years and cant travel back home at all? Somebody mentioned this which sounded as absurdity but still wanted to clear what i heard.

As far as I know permanent residents must stay at least 2 ys out of 5 years in Canada. After 5 years you have to renew the PR card unless you will have become a citizen by that time. If you stay 3 full years in Canada you can apply to residency.

It is normal nowadays. It might take total 45 to 60 days.
 
my medicals status was updated sometime between 28 dec to 10 january. I never received any email about any update. I randomly logged in to the account to find the change there. Now i'm worried about what if i have missed out on any important email. I havent submitted RPRF. Alos, the website keeps logging out and shows error. Did anyone else experience the same? My application status is as follows:

Application/profile status: Open
Review of Eligibility :Review in process
Review of medical results: Passed
Review of submitted documents: no additional docs needed at his time
scheduling an interview: not needed at this time
a background check is needed: not needed at this time
final decision: not started.

So far all is well. You must check mycic account daily for any document request. For RPRF They give only 7 days. So don't miss it.

RPRF will be asked in mycic and you will just get a mail message for it

What does "Review in progress" mean in the column of review of eligibility?

I submitted e-Apr on Jan 3, 2017.

No more change since then.

What should I expect for? the medial exam pass, or wait for them to check my Eligibility first?

I want to know if I did something wrong in the application or it is normal to see this.

All is correct so far. You can expect a "medical passed" before any change on the "review of eligibility" status

The "Review of Eligibility" field will not have a status change until you get PPR and submit your passports to the consulate/embassy.
