Finally some progress on my case, CIC has requested to pay the RPRF.

They notified me:

"This is in reference to your application for a permanent resident visa, which has been found eligible in the Class for which it was submitted. Admissibility review (security, criminality and/or medical) is still ongoing; you will be contacted if additional information is required for that purpose."

AOR: 25th of Sep, FSW-INLAND.

That is very good news!!
Could you think of anything in your application (e.g. multiple travels, work experience, nationality, ...) that might delay finalizing your case?

I hope you receive the ready for visa email sooooon.

I had government employment that could be prolonging the security check.

Is that usual to get RPRF request so late in the game?

I am not too sure actually, but in your case I think it means your PPR is coming, hopefully! ;)

Travel to multiple countries does not delay the application processing. It is the pattern they look for, as in going to the same country multiple times without justification. Eg. an applicant traveling to a known drug source country 5 times a year. If he has an employment there, it will not be an issue, for tourism, well that will be looked into and might possibly delay things. Do not speculate, just hang in there.

Government jobs per se also does not affect PR application processing, unless your job was with the army or in a branch that deals with intelligence, or sensitive state matters. In those cases the CSIS will have to look into your rank in the department, the possibility that you will not be entering to spy and other issues related to it.

I too have worked for the government and dealt with a very sensitive position and lots of state secrets, security was cleared, took 2 extra weeks though.

Hey legalfalcon,

Did you wait until 6 months had passed before calling CIC to enquire about status? Did you call at all? I am wondering if they will entertain a call from me or just rudely tell me to wait until 6 months are over. I just completed 5 months.

I received RPRF request too, on Monday. My letter had exactly same text as yours except these lines, did yours have these lines too?:

Before we can approve your application, we require payment of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF). You must pay this fee before a permanent resident visa can be issued. The RPRF must be paid once for yourself as a principal applicant and once for your accompanying spouse or common law partner, if applicable.

The first time I called them was when I received a request for military service (5.5 months), which was absurd since I had never served in the military. They didn't provide me with any information. Then I called them after 6 months, and I was informed was that application was under review. I tried calling again after 2 weeks, but I encountered a very rude agent who asked me not to call before August 30. I was pissed off. I decided that day, no more calls to CIC.

Instead I sent an email to CPC-Ottawa. I received a generic, but a respectful reply that my application was under review and CIC was waiting an internal decision before they finalize my application. This was after my BGC had done in progress on March 3.

After this I neither called, nor sent an email. Instead I ordered GCMS notes thrice to ensure that the application was making progress.

Man, you've persevered quite a lot! I'm going mad in 5 months. :(

I have GCMS notes now from 4.5 month mark. How soon do you think I should order these notes again? Any recommendations? Wait until 6 month mark? or order at 5 or 5.5... hmmm
