Hey guys! I want to know something. Those of you waiting for 7 months and longer, do you have anything in your applications that you would think is time-consuming to verify? For example: work experience in a number of different countries, history of residence in a politically troubled country or region, any kind of relatively minor offenses in criminal record etc. I'm trying to make sense of why some people are waiting longer than 6 months and some are getting PPR in as little as 2 to 3 months.

I waited for 7 months and 3 days. There was nothing in my application that I see would have caused delay except the fact that I sought extra time to turn in the FBI PCC, which I did within one month of getting the AoR.

Here is how my application proceeded.

September 3AoR - all documents submitted and LoE for the FBI PCC.
September 10Actual processing of the application starts
September 10R.10 review completed
October 1Request for FBI PCC
October 6Agent Review of R10 - FBI PCC LoE on file
October 7FBI PCC Uploaded
January 15Analyst review of eligibility passed
January 21Agent review of eligibility passed - Military record traced and request for details sent
January 22Replied that I had never served in military
January 26Agent review - satisfied with the response that I never served in the military
February 21Criminality passed and No reportable trace
March 3Back Ground check in progress
April 5PPR

If you see the timeline closely, no one worked on my file from October 10 until January. Then again from January 26 to February 21 no one touched it and finally it took them a month to get the BGC.

So there was no reason for the delay except that no one worked on the file.

That is just so weird. Are you sure there weren't other processes going on which haven't been reported in the GCMS notes? Like waiting for any external agency or something which is out of CIC's control?

The external agencies come in when the BGC goes in progress, which is the last stage for FSW outland applicants. For me that happened on March 3. Until then, there was a period of 3 months that no one even touched my applications.

Please help.

When requesting GCMS notes from Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Online Request, it says :
Please submit the following document(s) as file attachments to support your application. The attached documents must only complement your request (i.e. consent form, proof of right of access).
Where can I find the conset form to fill and attach?!

Thanks,

Thanks,

You only need the consent form if you are making a request on behalf of someone else, or your application includes your spouse. The form is available here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5744.asp.

You will have to include the proof that you have the right to make a request - <http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563E.pdf>
• To be eligible, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or an individual or corporation currently present in Canada.
• Proof may include a copy of your Canadian passport, your permanent resident card, or an official document that proves you are currently living in
Canada (i.e. driver's license, bill with proof of address, work/study permits or visitor record).

Hope this answers your question.

I submitted my request without uploading the proof that I have the right to make a request!
It also didn't ask for the $5 fee!!
What should I do now?
Should I apply again?!

Yes, you will have to, or else the request will not be processed.

legalfalcon,

Is there any difference among different ways (websites/agents) one could request GCMS notes? Which one provides more information? I am an inlander by the way!

Thanks again,

Thanks again,

Any applicant who is not inside Canada cannot order GCMS notes since you have to provide a proof. So outlanders have to use private agencies like visa file.info or GCMSnow.com. These companies charge $23-25. If you are within Canada just pay $5 and get the GCMS notes. There is no difference in what you will get. GCMS notes contain all the information in your immigration file. It comes as a PDF file. The private agencies just forward the PDF file to you.

So you will be better off requesting the notes on your own if you are inside Canada.
