Another crazy request from CIC.

  • Our records indicate that you have served as a Colonel. Please confirm whether you were
a member of the Indian army. If you were a member of the Indian army, please complete the military table below and provide a certified copy of your Military records

I have never served in the Military. I wonder where do they get such crazy information from. This is seriously getting on my nerves now. Now another explanation and wait. Has anyone else received such a request.
Lmfao! What the hell? Raise a CSE and tell them you never worked in any wing of the armed forces!!!

they must have had a hit with the same name as yours. Something simmilar happened to a friend of mine.

Be careful, explain in detail and if you can provide evidence that you haven't served in the Military ( not sure how to do this though.. ) do that. Do not just dismiss this request

You can only renew your PGWP (or apply for BOWP) once you have renewed your passport.

You can send a case specific inquiry to CIC upon receiving PPR if it comes some time in say March, telling them your intent of getting married and wish to delay COPR.

They would probably ask for your wife's (once married) docs and usually would do it in a couple months. Then they would issue you new passport request (even if your spouse is in India). If you get PPR but haven't landed you would still be in the same situation.

The above is the fastest way to get your Spouse a PR along. Else if you get a PPR sooner and try to complete landing, then you would have to apply and go through spousal sponsorship which would take a long time.

You cannot decide either of these now unless you actually receive PPR.

What you should do is, decide this based upon WHEN you get PPR. If received even by Mar 1 (One month is quite enough for COPR - and you can do landing at the border). If you get it after wards then just Inform CIC that you are going india to get married and they need to process your spouse as well.

Renewal of passport is probably important either way - whether you new to get work permit or you need it for PPR.
Thanks a ton for all the insights :)

Hi guys, I have a very stressful and complicated situation and desperately need your advice and insight.
1- My closed work permit and my spouse's open work permit expires on Jan 31st.
2- I have applied for closed work permit extension in the middle of October but my spouse has not.
3- I also had an offer from a university in USA and my spouse and I applied for J1 and J2 visa on Dec. 30th.
4- I have got J1 visa but my spouse has gone through background check which may take at least 2 months to be approved for visa.
5- We both have applied for PR under FSW inland program in September and we are waiting in silence.

and now here is my question. If I leave Canada to start my work in USA, how can my spouse stay in Canada legally until our PPR comes or his J2 visa gets approved?

I appreciate your suggestions
Masin

I think your spouse should apply for BOWP asap and stay in Canada on implied status. Yes, it is $255, but at least she will surely remain in the country legally until your PR is approved.

That's correct. File BOWP and better do it before you actually leave the country and your spouse would be under implied status until either a) receiving BOWP or b) PPR or c) US visas.

Thanks for you suggestion, I will go for it as soon as possible. Just one other question, do you know if we can withdraw a work permit application in case we get PR earlier than a decision is made for our Work permits? Do they return the application fee?

You are welcome. No I don't know for sure if they refund fee or not. My take is that it depends upon whether they have processed the wp application to some extent or not. It can go either way.

I recall some of applicants could call CIC to ask about their PR application status. Does anyone know the CIC number we can call?
