7 months for me today

I am the one who started this thread, and it seems like I'll be the one to close it as well. So sad.

Don't be sad, its 6 months and 3 weeks for me as well, hopefully this wait will be over soon. I am positive as for 1 month my application was in refused state then it was reopened (thanks to the officer).
Did you order GCMS? If so, what is the status as per GCMS notes?

Thanks! Yeah, hopefully we hear some good news soon. No movement on my application for the past 2 months since my BG went in progress.

The GCMS generated in March showed everything passed, except for security which was all blanked out. New GCMS should be arriving end of May.

Application was refused as my employment letter didn't have full time employment and duties mentioned on it. But I made an appeal with new document and my application was reopened (thanks again to the officer).

This reopening has made my belief firm that at the end of the day we are all humans dealing with each other.

Please try to cheer up. Just think about how happy you will be when you finally get your PPR. Since your background is already in process, I am sure the likelihood of getting rejected is next to nothing. Just relax and wait for the RFV email.

I wish you and all the remaining Octoberian PPR soon.

Thanks a lot Dupsy. I am in Canada already (on workers visa), landed yesterday, and the rest of the family is in Moscow. Now trying to figure out how to change my VO to Canada and theirs to Moscow...

So far, I've waited 7 months and 1 week...

Guys quick question. Do we have to stay for a certain time in Canada after we land? We are planning to go for a couple of weeks and than comeback to get everything ready to actually move. Someone just told me we need to stay there initially for at least 6 months! Tell me he is dreaming!

Your PR card needs to be sent to a Canadian address, so unless you know a reliable friend or family member who it can be sent to so they can send it onto you, it's best to stay til you get the card. Trying to enter Canada again without it requires a travel document which needs to be applied for outside of Canada - may not be worth the hassle.

Not that I know of - have never heard the rule that you need to initially stay in Canada for 6mths before being allowed to leave. Just remember that to keep your PR status you need to reside in Canada for 3 out of 5 years and the clock starts from the time you first land.
