Logged into MyCIC account and was pleasantly surprised to see the status as Updated. However, it was very short lived as there was no change when I went in... False alarm ...

Received a ghost email today! Logged into my CIC and found that my status was "updated" too but no mail in there.

Canadakg - hopefully we'll receive our respective PPRs soon my friend. Patience is the key word here. Best of luck.

Oh, and by the way I ordered GCMS notes on April 19, and looks like yesterday on April 22 my Background check changed to In Progress. But I have a feeling it's just a coincidence. Maybe not...

That would be great, if they're working that fast... though I doubt you'll be able to get the PR cards before the end of the May holidays, unfortunately, the PR card waiting times are about a month, if I'm not mistaken. You'll need an address in Canada for them to send it to, they're not sending it abroad.

Yeah, I meant we would merely apply (whatever little effort that would be) for PR cards in the COPR-before-May scenario; our stay won't be long enough to get them, I'll have to ask someone in Canada to kindly provide their address and receive the cards for us.

Apart from SIN and the PR card application (which will be done automatically at POE) you can also get the health card of your province (not sure about the waiting times there), maybe the driving license (though note that they'll take away your Russian one) and get a bank account.
That's useful, thanks!

Have you decided on where you want to go?
Sure, Toronto.

One more question - what did you do about the photos? I imagine it's not that hard to get the photos with the correct specifications, but what about the photographer's signature/stamp or whatever it is they want on the back of the photo?

I just asked them to write their full address, name of organization, date and e-mail on the back, that's it. :)

Yes, it switches back to "Submitted" after you check. If you didn't see any visible update, at least there was something that was done behind the scenes...it's a good sign PPR is on the way.

Ah, I see. Thanks for your answers! I do hope you'll get your passports back in time to travel in May! :)
