After taking so much time, would they care to explain why it took so long? Have they provided explanation to anyone before? It is just unbelievable having to wait without any reason.

The reason is security check for the majority of that 20% and there is no maximum time-frame for that.

Are you applying to sponsor your spouse, partner or child?

A new application process for the spousal sponsorship program came into effect on December 15, 2016. Upfront medical exams are no longer needed for spouses, partners or dependent children. To help avoid delays in processing, wait for our instructions before going for your medical exam.
Find more information on what to do for your medical exam.

No, not sponsoring. It's just that our medicals would expire.

No maximum frame, meaning it could take years?

Btw, did you get any emails when your medicals got back to passed?

Yeah! This is what CIC says, and there are still people who have been waiting for almost a year to have their backgrounds cleared!

No! I did not get any email for the update on my medical status.

Of course! Last year they issued PPR on December 22th. So let's wait for that great news - the most precious Christmas Gift from Santa. 8)

did they? i find that pretty interesting. i would have thought they go off on their breaks and don't bother with it close to Christmas. Also, do you know when the next set of PPR's was issued post Christmas last year? Should give us an idea of when things get back on track after Christmas?

Yeah! and I have seen some people on the forum who got the golden email on January 9, 2016. ;)

Folks!

I emailed Ottawa yesterday and raised a CSE at the same time. I have received a reply today. It says: "Please be advised that your case is in queue for final review and instructions will be sent shortly."

What is your idea?! Should I be waiting for PPR these days? ::)

I'm definitely starting to lose hope. You know how things are in my country nowadays. It might take ages to get an answer from them.

I believe many of us are in that queue! Let's be positive and hope for our golden emails to come soon.

The email address is: <CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca>

I asked them when they would inform me of a final decision! Before they would give a standard answer to my emails. Seems this time they were done with my background check.

Good Luck!
