Hey guys,

Does NOC code A and a masters degree from a top 5 university in Canada helps to get the application processed faster? Just wondering. All my University buddies got their PR application processed within the following time:

Friend 1 & 2: 1 month
Friend 3: 1.5 months (RCMP was requested)
Friend 4: 2 months

Whats your opinion on this?

Not sure if people in CIC even know what the top 5 universities in Canada are, let alone prioritizing the students over the rest! lol I got my degree from U of T and it has made, so far, no difference whatsoever.

Sounds good. I think they would recognize all the big universities compared to colleges.

Whats your degree and NOC code? And whats your timeline if you don't mind?

I don't think so, either. My understanding is that the processing time depends mostly on the visa office processing the application as well as the number of applicants on the application.

your ppr is on the way ;)

I wish!
But Well I don't think so if you look at my timeline (see signature). From what I understood, to make that assumption, My BG check needs to go to "in progress" then "not needed at this time" then "in progress" again. When it goes to "in progress" for a second time, I will be able to say that PPR is on the way. For now I just made half of the road.

Anyone can confirm? @legalfalcon ? Someone else?

Could it be that your file was transferred?

Hi sqid.madoma,

My BG check from "Not needed" to "Not Started" to "Not Needed" again. Do you know what that might mean?

CEC inland.
On April 7th Background check changes from "in progress" to "not needed at this time"
Seems it is now happening with everyone..
Hope it is a good sign...

And bunge12.

I really do not know I am not an expert on these change of status, it is still confusing for me. But since I am a CEC Inland I really don't think I am going to have a PR in less than 4 months. No CEC inland got a ppr from the january group for example

Do not be concerned by this. This is normal. BG check goes to not needed when the CIC is reviewing your criminality and might need a document(s), or are checking your personal history before they send your file to the external agency for the Security or BG check.

Do not read too much into it. Some applicants have been requested for documents related to their personal history about travel, or military record when this happens. For others, no documents are requested.

I think this is just a glitch and very soon your will have the BGC in progress. So relax and stay calm!

It is a normal trend and happens to most applicants. So no needs to worry, and movement is a good sign. It means someone is working on your application.

CEC inland applicants usually have their BG in progress a few days after AOR and it remains like that for a while; so it may not mean PPR just yet(you can look at the trends in other AOR groups from the past months). Its usually outland applicants that get PPR soon after BG in progress; That said, we can only wait patiently and hope for the best ;)

Got my GCMS notes today (in 18 days)...

Eligibility: Not Started
Security: Not Started
Criminality: In Progress
Medical: Passed
