I have the same timeline as you are, AOR Jan 30, same day applied for a BOWP since my POWP was expiring Jan 31. Was waiting a long-long time for an approval, even my lawyer said that they are probably waiting for a decision on my Express Entry application. Decided to filled in the IRCC Web form in the end of March and got approval for my BOWP on April 7th. I don't know is the form helped but it could be the case. Also, I was in an implied status from Jan 31 to April 7.

Also, just remembered that my BG went to IP after I did the form.

a temporary resident applies for renewal of their work or study permit and their permit expires before a decision is made, paragraph 186(u) and section 189 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) (the right to continue working or studying under the same conditions pending a determination of their application for renewal) apply only as long as the person remains in Canada.

Here it states renewal specifically. And if you google IEC implied status everyone has the same opinion :/ I appreciate the help though!

CEC takes ~2 months and PNP takes ~5 months to process. Besides that, nothing's wrong.

Oh also, you feel stupid for not waiting another month for CRS to drop and still getting PPR months before you'd get it if you applied with PNP ;D

Thank you so much for your response. I was referring to the time taken to return your passport (with visa, I guess) once submitted to Ottawa. I hope you have this answer too....

Are you referring PR cards? If so, it will take at least 6 weeks after landing. Once you have your passports, you have to schedule an interview with CIC for landing or you can do the landing at the border (if you are inlander). From that day onwards, you'll be called officially permanent resident of Canada. You can apply for your permanent Social Insurance number in any Service Canada.

Good luck :)

Hello Guys,

After long wait for status to be changed i received a correspondence from CIC. Its asking for some information that i has no connection. It asking to provide me details for the employer i worked in some other country. But the reality is i never been to that country and for the period they are asking i was in school. I dont know what they are talking about, i have not provided any such information.

what you guys think went wrong? did CIC send me the wrong correspondence?

Hi! I finally received the golden email :D ;D :D !!!!!!!!
For those of you still waiting, don't lose hope your day will come soon! I have been trying to get pr in Canada for many many many years (every time I was closed to getting the requirements things changed) but you have to keep fighting and moving forward. Here is my timeline:

CEC INLAND
CRS points: 501

ITA: 23 Dec 2016
AOR: 30 Jan 2017
BOWP application: 7 Feb 2017
Medicals passed: 27 Feb 2017
Background check in progress (1): 27 Feb 2017 (my background check has been like that since and it still is, no NA nor IP(2))
BOWP approved: 17 Mar 2017
PPR: 18 Apr 2017
PPR mailed: 19 Apr 2017

There is nothing in my CIC account nor messages and it still shows background check and eligibility in progress.

Hope it helps!

I could be wrong but I thought I've heard of PGWP holders being on implied status, and PGWPs cannot be renewed either

I was on PGWP, but a bridging open work permit isn't an extension of that per-say. It's you applying for an open work permit to be able to work while your application is being processed. You don't receive a work permit with the PGWP classification.

And if you get really technical - you are still allowed to work until they make a decision on that application. Even if it ends up being a no.
